Subject: OT: Cute overload: My daughter Ilona

SamTherapy ( ) posted Sun, 13 May 2018 at 4:20 PM · edited Sat, 04 January 2025 at 2:13 AM

My little one, Ilona, spent Friday in hospital, having tonsils and adenoids removed, and grommets in her ears. Came home Saturday morning, with her horrible old daddy looking after her there. Spent most of the time asleep, and cuddling her toy bunny.

She's healing well and generally happy but the pain is a bit much for her at times.

Thanks! She is getting better and better. The cats are giving her a lot of attention, particularly Marsellus, who is playing nursemaid.

Don't forget her ice cream ... that was a standard reward for enduring a toncilectemy ... even if I can't spell it and neither can my Kindle.

Boni, that's what she was eating in the first pic. She's had some at home, too. We're trying to encourage her to eat hard, sharp foods at the moment, though. Kind of mixed success but at least she's trying. Slept most of the day today, waking up for an hour or so, having a little to eat and drink, then back to sleep.

Having your tonsils removed is no fun. I had mine removed ages ago as a child and even the promise of ice cream didn't alleviate the throat pain. She will get better, guaranteed. Just will take a little time.

Aye, it's early days yet, I know. She is enjoying things though; her sense of fun is still there and fortunately we're keeping on top of the pain most of the time. She is laughing at her own voice because it's changed. It's more like it used to be now, before her tonsils became enlarged. The biggest thing for her is that her ears don't hurt any more. She's lived with pain and loss of hearing, constant infections and so on for a couple of years. No fun.

She's very cute Sam, and here's hoping she's 100% better in short order.

She ate quite a bit of stuff - comparatively - today, and said her throat doesn't hurt any more. But... the surgeon warned us the 5th day is usually the worst, when it gets really sore. Should be a fun day tomorrow. Fingers crossed, Ilona will be fine.

As predicted, it's not been a great day for the young lady. Woke up in pain and hasn't been very happy most of the day. She did, however, manage to get rid of a lot of rubbish in the affected area so I'm guessing things will improve now.

Here's hoping. She had a bit of a squawk earlier, before the pain meds kicked in but for the most part, it's been a good day. Still sleeping lots - which I think is a good thing - but getting better all the time.

Thanks, one and all. Ilona is recovered now and back to her usual grumpy self. Actually, she's a little more cheerful than usual but she's a spiky little thing most of the time.

A little disappointed because she was hoping to be back at school next week, but it's half term so school is closed for the week.
