Subject: Why should I buy Vicky 2.0?

Dragontales ( ) posted Fri, 11 May 2001 at 10:58 AM · edited Sun, 19 January 2025 at 6:28 PM

Ok, I have been in this poser arena for a couple of months now, probably about 2 or 3. I've seen vicky all over, and I also know there's a lot of outfits and the like. However, as a current user of Posette, I can't say that she's alltogether that bad. What I'd really like to know is, what are the advantages of Vicky, and more especially, Vicky 2.0. What does she have that Posette doesn't, and is she worth buying a new figure, with all the other morphs and such out for Posette? Dragontales

IMHO Posette- Versitile, Easy On the computer, TONS of clothes and MT and textures. Seated poses are very difficult unless you have studied how people sit and posette still distorts in bad areas requiring a lot of post work , or statigic lighting to hid the weak areas. EVE 1-2-3-4 far better posing and more normal human poses possible, Uses the same textures as the P4 ( with an additional genital map )Most MT work with eve ( face, forearms shins, hands and feet/toe. the rest have conversions for eve. cannot wear clothes unless converted. can wear the same smart prop shoes and characters that are hip and below (Pants) WWG a hybrid of the P4 and eve good but few textures. Victoria- posing on par if not better than eve. Clothing for V is growing , but not caught up to P4Fem and very few are free. has hight poly count and will lag down a system as more figures/props/textures are added to a image Victoria 2.0 same as above except more MT applied and comes with a P4Fem version (fully MT vicky head, mated very nicley to a P4 fem, so all P4 Fem clothes fit (on standard body settings.) i have and use then all. I like them for thier strengths

If you can call Daz, you can order and have them send it to you on a CD. They charge an extra $5 to $10 for the CD. I did that a couple of years ago when they had all the animals on sale.

It's all a matter of taste, I own them all and use them all. I think you need to cruise through some of the gallery pics to see what can be done with Vickie. This is almost as bad as an OS thread, everyone has their favorite. I use Posette for a lot of work, I think she's great. But I also use Vickie for clients who want a more realistic model, and that is their term, not mine. Almost all of them has liked Vickie and Mike better, so I use them. Now that Posette is set up to use Vickie head morphs on the Posette body I can utilize all the stuff for her and still get that more realistic look. I will still use Posette and the Dork for a lot of projects, but I do need to follow what my clients want or I'm out of business, no matter how loyal I am to the Posette figure. 8^) Marque

Actually vicki 2 uses vicki's body rescaled to fit posette's proportions...so its the same poly count as victoria where as the vicki head on posette's body is actually a lower poly count...I recentlly managed to remap posette to take victoria maps but she's still in beta testing...

If you have the Vickie 2.0 you can use all of the Vickie maps on the P4 Vickie. Marque

Posette has many good points as mentioned above. Victoria is most probably one of the best, if not the best and most likelife 3D human model ever made. IMHO There are many advantages to using victoria. One of the main ones for me is that the texture maps are much higher resolution. Due to the fact that the head is a seperate map you can get textures here at RR that put the pro's to shame. Vicky is also completely bendable and much higher resolution. I have not used posette in a while and I don't suspect I will very much ever again. The quality of Victoria stuff is incredibly high but unfortunatly it comes at a price. Most good things do. I would rather spent $20 on an incredible texture for Vicky than use one that is free for posette and IMHO doesn't look so hot (not all, but most). What else can you get for $20? about 4 packs of fags. Gone in two days and nothing but a bad cough to show for it. I am sorry to say this and I am sure a lot of folks won't like it but 'Goodbye Posette. Long live Victoria'!!! V2 is even better! Colm...

Quite right Colm, I agree. I personally used Posette less and less since Vicky was given birth last year. One of the reasons is that Posette is a model you can see everywhere in the journals (at least in Germany) and the MTs you can get are not as sophisticated as Vickie's. Her face is always quite the same (remember her unnatural smile). Always a deja-vu! I purchased V 2 some hours ago and I have to say: she is worth every penny/cent/Pfennig!!! Just to play with all these MTs is fun for days. DAZ3D made a overwhelming model. Again to everyone: if you have the money: GET HER!!! FunFunFun.

Mike Realistic?Ick.I hate Michael.I bought the Eagle, and a few other Daz models and LOVE em.I didn't buy Vicky1 but may buy Vicky2.I REALLY like Zygotes Morphable Muscleman,Now THAT is REALISTIC.Daz said they are gonna make Mike better, maybe then I will like him. They listen to our input,so I appreciate that. :0) Nice people there.Too bad they Stopped making the Animal CDs.They had ALOT of animals on one Cd for like $99 bucks. Now buying the same animals separately are like $350 bucks.OUCH!

Two words: Digital Babes! (or Poser Factory) Kozaburo and Yamato have continuously shown us that we have barely pushed the limits of the P4 female. Ran Ran (and I believe Lin Lin) use a combination of Frederic's improved JPs and some nifty hip and thigh morphs by Yamato to achieve some nice workarounds to the leg bend problems (Yamato's morphs and the new JPs corrected a MAJOR problem.) Considering that many of the pictures in Kozaburo's gallery are rendered straight from Poser with no post production, I'd have to say that those who are writing Posette's eulogy have barely begun to scratch the surface of what she's capable of. With Poser's magnets, Traveller's tutorials, and all the custom morphs available out there--the goofy P4 smile and the limitations of the standard P4 morphs are such non-issues. As far as realism: The Poser Factory gallery pics that Yamato did for Ran Ran are incredible. Two more words: Paul Hafeli, the granddaddy of hair tricks and the "no post-rendering" movement.
