Having worked with a local (Kansas City) agency as a photographer in the past, I think it's inevitable - at least in the smaller markets. I don't think we'll see the top echelon models or agencies in NY or LA go away anytime soon. But for small to mid-range markets, it just makes sense.
For most of the girls, modeling was a part-time endeavor. It was fun to "play model" for a day, and maybe make a little extra cash. A few of them were quite professional, but more times than not, models would show up late, drag their boyfriends along, or just plain not show up.
This leaves the smaller markets with a choice of using the high-end agencies and models - and their high-end fees, or depending on local talent which may or may not work out. CG models would seem to me to be a viable alternative. As a CG artist, it certainly wouldn't hurt my feelings!

Hmm 3D animation are far from being cheap and or a better alternative to a live commercial model, Not realistic but a good quality example would be Tangled.that was $49,059 per second with 68 animators And those are toons!!! Ok good quality but still....toons so I don't see any company which isn't in the 3D business doing that just to do it and end up with the same results they would get with a real person at a much cheaper cost.Runway and Fashion models are expensive normal commercial everyday looking people models not so much to justify the cost of going 3D. think they get around anywhere from 75 - 250 an hour.

Animations have been used in commercials for a long time. At least I don't recall Captain Crunch being a real person ;) Or Mr. Clean for that matter. What you are really asking is whether CGI will ever replace humans in cases where the advertiser wants a living person advertising their product. I can think of a lot of reasons that could happen besides just cost when animation gets good enough to fool people into thinking it's real. And it wouldn't just be advertising. I think Disney would have loved using a Hannah Montana that didn't grow up into Miley Cyrus, and let's not get started on the Mousketeers. Humans have personal lives, get into accidents, grow old, and do various other things that drive corporations nuts. Any time you don't have to meet that vision in person there are a whole lot of reasons to use CGI. When the time comes.
Japan's been doing it for at least a decade. The difference is, IMHO, that they go for complete realism and then promote the fact that it's CG work.
