You can name UV layouts if you export them. That's if you are going to be working outside of Blender. Within Blender once you uvmap an object the layout becomes apart of it. If you are wanting to work with separate parts of a models uvmap... you can create material groups or vertex groups to assign the faces to. Probably since you are texturing material groups would be better. This will give you more control over your render.

Hi Atpo, as far as I know there isn't anyway to do that within Blender, but of course, I could be wrong.
What I usually do is export the UV Map, and then import it into Photoshop to add any text I need to it on a separate layer from the UV Map itself. I do this for naming each of the pieces of the UV Map, and often add some information about who created the model and UV Map (myself) in the upper right corner, so folks who want to use it will know what each piece is, and will know who to give credit to if asked.
Needless to say, if you don't have Photoshop, you can use any 2D graphics application you prefer.

Because sometimes I don't know every parts in UV layout unwrapped. Is there any free plugin that can do this if blender cannot ?
Notice: Name uvlayout 's meaning isn't to name uv layout when export UV layout. Thanks.
