Subject: La Femme and why freebie deals should maybe forego the $3.50 requirement.

Hi folks. I wanted to check out La Femme to see if I'd be able to find some time to make some stuff for her. I was surprised to find her on sale for free until...tomorrow apparently. Happy coincidence. However, I was disappointed to find that the store has a minimum purchase requirement that pissed me off today. I have no interest in ANYTHING ELSE IN THE STORE. None. ZERO. ZERO Exclamation Mark. I wanted the figure for the sole purpose of seeing if I would want to take the time to make something for her that I would sell through the store (or gift to a friend to sell through the store). Fun fact: if you have to pay for something the thing isn't free. So if you're going to require the $3.50, you should have just made her on sale for $3.50. Now I'm forced to wait until she goes off sale. Which I'm happy to do but I will not pay for some random thing to suit your stupid requirement and believe this: it is stupid to force a charge on a free item. That's my Customer Support Feedback. I'll be back later in the week to buy her at full price.

Really makes zero sense.

Carry on.

The $3.50 minimum purchase is a system requirement that is always in place. It has been the same for as long as I can remember, it is the same during all promotions like Grab Bags, etc. It is to pay for things like credit card processing, bandwidth for downloads and general site costs. We do have sales where some items fall below that $3.50 minimum and we keep that in place to ensure sales are not processed lower than $3.50 to cover those charges/costs above. The figure will go off sale. I hope you will get her then.

The argument that it's always been this way is not a valid argument. I can go to other stores like gumroad and if an item is free, get said item at no additional cost. The idea Ita always been this way sounds more like a refusal to adapt than anything else. Don't refuse to adapt. Especially since there's no credit card fees involved in a free digital sale. Are you charging for the item and then refunding the money at POS? If not, there's no reason a credit card should be required and if so, well then, why the extra 3.50 that would be covered in the initial purchase anyway?so no. The idea it's always been this way is not a good one. Didn't work for slavery, doesn't work in this case either. A bad practice is a bad practice. She goes off sale tomorrow, I will pick her up then. I want to show support to Renderosity and to the Poser community. I just don't want to do it while supporting bad practices. I did that my entire time at Smith Micro and refuse to do it again. Anyway, I appreciate the response. I understand that the store is currently set up this way. I also understand there are better ways. I hope someday, the store here adapts.
