RIP.
I knew about this from another site but didn't want to tread on Boni's toes by posting here.
Coppula eam se non posit acceptera jocularum.
I read about it in my NY Times Headlines newsletter the other day, and was totally shocked. I too remember the Monkees from when I was younger. RIP Peter.

Peter Tork passed away Thursday morning. I spent the day in shock and heartbroken as a fan. He was a great inspiration to me from the time I was 13. I read Paramahansa Yogananda's "Autobiography of a Yoga", "Stranger in a Strange Land" and many philosophical and spiritual books because of Peter. My partner and I became "water brothers", I studied yoga. I strived to find Peaceful resolutions to conflicts in my life. I even learned to play the banjo. So for those who don't understand ... yes this man affected my life greatly. He was and is a hero to me. In interviews he understood what the Monkees mean to a lot of the fans ... a refuge from the harshness of the world around us. He knew ... he cared. Peter, I will miss you wit and wisdom. I will cherish the gentle sweetness of your soul.
