Subject: New member following me. Is this a problem?

ISTR something about it a while back but can't remember the details.

Any road up, someone with no site activity, who joined a couple of weeks ago started following me yesterday. Should I be flattered/annoyed, or reporting/ignoring them?

Have you ever had a major issue with a member? Someone who could be "stalking" you for any reason? Most likely not, you are a groovy guy, but keep an eye on this member and let us know who it is via site-mail and we can keep an eye on them as well.

A groovy guy, huh? ๐Ÿ˜ You ain't so bad yourself.

Had some problems, way back when I was a moderator. One guy set up a Facebook account, claiming to be me and another former member - now banned - went after me in a variety of ways. They were both years ago, though.

I'll send you a sitemail regarding this latest one.

A couple years ago, spammers/scammers started following members. They posted links in their profiles that went to porno sites and, I assume, scam/malware sites hoping that members would click on them. Like your new follower, the scammers were new members with no connection to the site. They usually used womens' names and provocative language.

Other 3d sites are currently reporting that a 3d membership site was recently compromised and member info stolen, but the tech support folks declined to identify the compromised site. Your new follower may be something to be careful about. Other sites are recommending that members change their passwords, especially if they use the same user ID/password among similar sites (not sure how one changes a password on Rendo). I have no clue whether these other sites were referring to Rendo, 'tho.

In the past, it took Rendo quite a while to get these fake members/followers banned and removed from the site. Rendo has also had problems with hacked credit cards used on this site, so, given that poor security history, I'm cautious about what to store on this site and only use a prepaid debit card for purchases.
