Subject: Victoria 2.0 Mac Problems

I've got Vic 2.0 loaded in Poser--I can pull her up, select various body parts, and move the camera around. But God help me if I select Body. At that point, Poser blinks out and I get an Error 2 message. I've got 180 Megs dedicated to Poser (with 384 M total) so I'm guessing that RAM isn't a problem (especially since just having Vic 2.0 loaded, Poser requires less than a sixth of that amount) I suspect I'll have to wait until Monday to get an answer from Zygote--but if anyone has any ideas to what the problem might be--I'd appreciate it.

It works fine for me Freakachu and I am on a Mac ...Try getting rid of all textures for the moment? Not sure what else but I work fine .. you might also delete and re-install it .. good luck

It's possible the file got corrupted during installation. Try deleting the file and reinstalling it and if that doesn't work, try running Norton Utilities on it and defragmenting your drive.

I have two questions: Are you running a Full Install, or an upgrade to Vickie 2.0, and what version of Poser are you running, 4.0.2 or 4.0.3? It's weird--the parts seem to work okay in the Vickie.cr2, but the body crashes the program, and the body works with the VickieP4.cr2, but selecting the head crashes the program. I checked the Install instructions in the text file with the folders in my geometry and library files and everything seems to check out. The reason I'm asking about the Full vs Upgrade install is because of where the obj files are located in the Geometries folder. The original Vickie obj file is in the Zygote People folder and the new obj files are in the Daz People folder (although copying the contents of the Zygote folder into the Daz folder doesn't seem to help either. It also seems that the last Vic 1.0 upgrade required a particular version of Poser (I don't remember if it was 4.0.2 or 4.0.3--I'm running 4.0.2.116) but since I'm not running LipSinc, I didn't download the final Vic upgrade cr2 file. Looks like I may have to upgrade Poser to 4.0.3 if that's the problem.

I upgraded to 4.0.3 before I got the Poser Pro Pack. I had no problems whatsoever with V2.

I'm running her with 4.0.3 installed previously (but I am not running the Pro Pack) and have seen no problems. I've already moved morphs onto her, also, and had no problems selecting body parts with either the V2 or the P4 version. I never got Error #2 messages until I moved up to OS9.0.4. Increasing memory allocation usually helps (but not always), although Poser has been one of the few programs that has remained stable for me on OS9. Try removing Vicky 2 entirely, downloading the upgrade to 4.0.3, install it, then reinstall Vicky 2. -Jim

One thing to note -- when I installed the 4.0.3 patch, it turned "Auto Balance" ON! This causes (for me at least) the shadows to be really stark and shading to look horrible. -Jim

I have the upgrade with version 4.02.118 no pro pack and she works fine ...

One common thread in the posts of those of you who replied that Vickie worked fine on your Macs was that your version numbers were higher than mine. After spending a couple of hours trying to get the 14 meg file (Internet Explorer has this nasty habit of downloading 95% of a file and then telling me it's finished--like downloading 13 and a half megs of a 14 meg file is good enough--its not like Microsoft really expects you to use that last five percent of the .sit file.) After getting it downloaded, I upgraded to 4.0.3 and everything works fine. I might write a note to Zygote telling them to slap a note for Mac users to update their version of Poser before using Victoria 2.
