Subject: Comments on the demise of Cornucopia3d?

Any thoughts?

Well, it looks like they are replacing it with "something". I keep wondering though if they aren't bringing it back since they keep mentioning it by name and using the logo. The wording is odd though. I'm hoping they will have something ... I enjoyed the community base there.

The email I received says that they have decided to let it go away. They explain that it is far too much work to restore the site and maintain it.

If someone knows how I can reach out to vendors who brokered there...send it to me! I would love to reach out to them and make this the new HOME of the VUE users/vendors. 😄

Jenn,

Hi ... the best place to find the vendors from Cornucopia3d would (at this point) be on fb. We also have some of the Vue admins. as members here on Renderosity.

It would be great if all the C3D stuff moved here.

Love Vue, and bought a ton of trees and stuff, but I'm not quite ready to commit to a monthly subscription. Not at the current price, anyway.

There's always room on my hard drive for more prehistoric trees, to go with Dinoraul's dinosaurs. :-)

Well I hope we have some of the vendors come this way. We would work with them to feel at home. 😄

Cornucopia via Vue offered a download of all their purchased and free products before they closed up shop.I downloaded them all.Like the rest of you I am sticking with Vue 2016 R6. I cannot afford the monthly or annual subscription. Cheers

I think part of the problem, in addition to the horror of trying to rebuild the web store, with all the associated license keys for every product, is that people using the current versions of Vue are mostly model-builders in their own right. Semi-professionals who can build their own, or afford to buy models from Turbosquid. So, while Vue is a great product, the user base has changed considerably in the last few years. Mostly people in the game or movie industries.

As a Vue modeller, I haven't put up much of my large inventory here because the user community seems so small, the effort to modernize each model and build new sets of promo pictures has not justified the work. But, sales are starting to pick up a bit, and so I will start publishing more of my inventory. I would like to use Vue 10 as the base requirement. Would this be OK with people?

I'm sorry to ask this. Information has been difficult to come by.

What is the status of Vue? Who owns it? Is it still Poser compatible? I had the free version years ago but the crippled demo ticked me off. I thought to wait till I had a spare 500 dollars because I'm never satisfied unless I know I have the best version of the software.

I am still interested.

I am slowly releasing my Vue models here on Rendo. They've been available for a long time elsewhere.

There was some changes in management of Cornucopia 3D that made it pretty hard to tolerate as a venue a long time before the buy out. We still support Vue (older versions) in our models, but they'd have to really go out of their way to get us interested in supporting them again.

The funny thing is that a lot of their branded content came from us. We outsourced Eugenia to e-on for years.

Best regards,

chikako
