Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 15 11:01 am)
I've already cleaned up the failed downloads.
The big download failed at 59Meg downloaded.
The smaller download near the same figure.
Download speed varied between 5 and 50K per second. That is kilobytes.
Current Speed is approximately 5K tops. We were never lightning fast here other's may do better. The failure was on the "Faster Downloads" Servers.
I've tried again. Here is my current picture.
I downloaded all the files this afternoon since they were on the public facing side of the posersoftware.com site. When downloading a single file, I was seeing around 1 MB/s transfer speed on the "Faster Downloads" server. I'm in a rural area with only 24 Mb/s down - on a good day. LOL!
Not sure if these are the actual final update/install files, so I haven't actually run them yet. Will see what happens tomorrow and either download again or install with what I got today.
I just logged in again. I'm blazing at 100 kilobytes per second. Brings back the good old days when I could start up the 1600 Baud modem and fly my f-16. I was national champion (for a while). Callsign Weasel. Oh how we owned the America On Line pilots in multiplayer. Of course my CPU could pull over 5 G's in a turn because it had something called a Math coprocessor. I think I used Windows 95. Such good times.
Fast forward to 2017 and Sweetie and were blazing at 100Mps per second with a turbo burst that was even faster. Hey! Only two hours left.
Well, I just took a chance, and it took all of 3 minutes to get the Poser 11 installer downloaded, and about 1 minute to get the Poser Support installer downloaded, using the Faster Download links.
Now I just hope that those are indeed final. I don't think I'll do any installing until tomorrow.

OK . . . Where's my chocolate?
For me, 3 minutes on the not-faster download link. I think some people's situations are coincidence.
Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)
Anyone who thinks it is slow, check your internet speed with a speed tester. My download speed tester measured 80 to 85 Mbps.

There are certain people who win they speak, you should really listen to them. Bagginsbill is one of them. I am the OP. The download just finished....the regular server. Here is my final screenshot. Compare it with the screenshot during the download frenzy. Full Disclosure.
SO perhaps it was a combination of all factors. Frenzy, butt slow internet speed, et al. This thread does give a statistical sample that we can average at the least. Someone has to be the last horse to finish the race. I do pity my friends in other countries that might be even slower than I.
98 Mbps according to Speedtest.net. Downloaded everything pretty quickly. I was going to wait until tomorrow, just in case there's further updates, but I started downloading, just to see how fast it was, and ended up grabbing everything, including the content files.
It appears they've fixed whatever problem they were having.

Fixed now - was problem with permissions on some files just added.
I'm no longer getting the error exception page (the download list properly appears), but the legacy nudes and the legacy props file downloads give a failed/forbidden error.
edit: The props zip completed successfully this time. :D

Our connection was never lightning fast here in the home of the Tomato...but I know a crashed server when I see one.
Two Tries. Two crashes...
