...uhm... What difficulties are you having with Carrara importing from Poser? I generally create my people in Poser, export to RDS or plain old Poser, and Carrara has no difficulty bringing them in. Compared to the horror that is Poser's UI, Carrara's is fun. I do virtually all my posing and animating in Carrara, and then save it elsewise so I can bring it into MAX (2019 Educational) if I need to do something "high-end" and work with it in Carrara if it's simple. Is it just difficulty with these two/three figures? All figures?

Amen to that.

The Poser core figures from Poser 9 onwards have a different rigging system than Poser core figures of Poser 7 and earlier. Carrara has no problem with Poser 7 figures like Simon and Sydney, but does have bending and posing problems with Tyler and Miki 4.

I really don't see a path to updating Carrara to correctly interpret newer Poser rigging. Of course, the older rigged figures still work fine.

Carrara has the very nice feature to strip out the poser deformers on loading a figure. has to strip deformers or aiko4 mesh mashes

mebbe something like that to manage the skinning ?

or mebbe a poser python script

fenric made a thing to prep miki3, mebbe build on that?

collada loses the morphs and the posing limits.

As long as Poser buildings & props work in Carrara, I'll be fine.

Whenever I have a choice between a Daz version & Poser version of an item, I always go with Poser. I'm rarely disappointed.

Carrara 6.2 can import .daz but not .duf, I usually prepare some characters like Kioki for Aiko 3 on Poser 7 first then Import the .PZ3 to Carrara because some morph are not recognize in carrara. I also figure out how to import BVH to Carrara, just highlight the hip of the model then export the .bvh animation on the character.

Same here. I long ago gave up trying to use Daz Studio items in Carrara. Happily, lots of great Poser content still being published here.

I have never used my poser 10 much but have added a link to the poser library in my Carrara content "tab" . Thumbs show up and everything loads with a click no problem .I dont seem to have Tyler or Myki characters though which I gather are a problem. Are these still in Poser Cr2. crz. format ?Library Objects also load.

Here is Rex, a figure that uses the changed weightmapping system instituted in Poser sometime after Poser 7 (either in 8 or 9). Rex and Roxy load in Carrara. However, the weightmapping often gets misinterpreted by Carrara. Fenric tried to create a plugin to correct it, but there were problems with how the feet related to the rest of the bone hierarchy. I loaded Rex, conformed the basic default clothes that come with Rex, and then bent the joints for the thighs and the shoulders. The problems of poke through are obvious. The joints themselves are not smoothed properly in the blend zones because Carrara does not interpret the updated weightmapping system. At least that is what I think Fenric said the cause of the problem was.poser rex not working well.jpg

Yes you are correct - I didn't try posing the chasracter. I found I had to "fit " Rex's sneakers to the jeans on my model to make it right. I had a "little" better result by loading base Rex then loading Rex with clothes. Delete the second rex leaving the clothes then fit them to base Rex- still ahd to fit sneakers to Jeans and hair needed adjusting. This sort of thing is always a problem moving from one software to another which I have learned is best avoided for the sake of sanity !!
