Subject: Missing Files in Scene Inventory Script

patlane ( ) posted Fri, 05 June 2020 at 8:25 AM · edited Tue, 05 November 2024 at 10:07 PM

I have created a Model in Poser which i am hoping to upload shortly. However when i use the Collect Scene Inventory tool it shows there is a missing file. It points to a CR2 file in my Poser Directory on the C: drive. "Could not locate the following files: C:Program FilesPoser Pro 2011RuntimelibrariesCharacter6x6-LandTrak-Explorer.cr2"

I have checked and there is no file of that name in the C Drive Poser directory?

Should it point to "Runtime libraries Character 6x6-LandTrak-Explorer.cr2" as this is where the actual file is. The model loads with no problems and only shows this one niggle when using the collect scene inventory tool. Any ideas where this ghost file reference may be coming from. Thanks Pat Lane :)

I would check the Library file you created and make any necessary editing to point to the correct path. Keep in mind, you will be assuming that everyone else has that cr2 in the same place, otherwise, all subsequent users will get similar errors.

Thanks hborre. I have opened the CR2 file with notpad plus++ editor several times and searched for the offending line of code pointing to figureResFile C:Drive poser directory. It is not there, there is no reference to this anywhere in the cr2 file. but it still comes up as a missing file when i use the collect scene inventory tool in poser. I have had some success by re-creating just the main OBJ part of my model as a new figure and saving separately to test it. It loads correctly with no missing file errors. Unfortunately this success means recreating the whole model again from scratch.

So i am assuming that there is some corruption of the original model during transition from OBJ to CR2 figure. As the runtime directory containing the OBJ's, CR2 files for my model are on a separate external hard drive, i am dumbfounded as the where the link to my C Drive Poser Directory comes from?

There is a new menu option which pops up when saving to a figure. Save as original figure geometry (content developers only) Save as New geometry figure

Perhaps this points to where the problem originates from? Although i have saved the file as both options several times they still give reference to this ghost file in my C Drive Poser directory when initiating the scene inventory. Is there a Poser Tech Department where i can upload so they can see where the problem is.

Thanks. Pat Lane :)

Ok, i am going on the path of making a new figure from the main OBJ file. This seems to alleviate the ghost file reference in the scene inventory tool. I will nest all the props under the figure, unfortunately i have linked several master parameters for moving parts within the corrupted figure. Is there a way to copy these master parameters to the new figure i have made. Or do in have to create these master parameters again.

Thanks

Pat Lane :)

Back again. Have created a new obj model prop and turned it into a Poser figure CR2 file. During the conversion from prop to figure there are two options.

  1. A new geometry file saved with the library

  2. the original figure geometry file (Content developers only)

I have saved both options in separate runtime directories on a separate drive (an external hard drive) so there should be no link to to the Poser Runtime Directory on my C Drive. When i select the figure from my library, it loads correctly, but when i run the select scene inventory tool it is giving a fail for a missing obj file with a link to the C Drive Poser Runtime Directory.

I open the CR2 file on my external drive with a text editor to look for the line referencing the OBJ file to the C Drive Poser Runtime Directory. There is no line referencing this specific link to the C Drive in the whole of the CR2 file.

The only reference to this OBJ file is in the line which includes the 'figureResFile-Runtime-Libraries-Character-DLB27.obj Why would Poser during conversion of a prop to a figure map a file to a non existent directory on the C Drive when the original directory map reference in the CR2 file is on my external drive?

Thanks

Pat Lane :)

I have a 'No filename was specified on line 8' error.  IThe file LandTrak-Explorer appears to be in the right directory and when I open it up with Notepad, this is what's displayed (copied only to geomCustom).
