success depends on what may be embedded in the ds file, like rigid groups, formulas frozen to slaved controls, did they not clean up the extra foot bones in shoes. beware geografted shoes. typos in the internal nodes. as a rule, the internal id should match the internal names of the nodes.

another thing to be wary of is uvwrapping.

example, the later stone mason sets use a gimmick with uvwrap, which can be compensated for inside carrara. there is a tick box for u wrap inside carrara. hopefully someone will have a screenshot handy???

I just don't use anything DAZ made after abandoning carrara. DAZ wants me as a customer update carrara. Now dress that character and pose it.

yeah, i understand the sentiment.

if only someone was making carrara content. was hoping mmoir would come to this store. i miss rdna. and now the news about hwire. community is shrinking

There used to be dozens and dozens of smaller content sites. Usually by one or two people. Most all of them are gone. DAZ has flooded the market with cheap content that is always on sale; DAZ is just non stop sales now. But it seems the novice CG rendering market is waning. People are wanting to do full CG animation or CG special effects. Nether of which Studio is particularly suited to. Then you have DAZ reinventing the wheel with every new figure; new content just like the old content but for a different figure. I mean just how many different hero unitards do you need? How many different variations on pirate clothes are in your closet lol

Thing is the only time I see hobbiest CG off the galleries here or DAZ is porn. And DAZ doesn't sell that content lol Oh I know a lot of book covers are done with CG and here and there you see a commercial. None of the hobbiest CG animations I see on youtube are done with Studio.

Carrara was the CG app that came between Studio and C4D or 3DS. Now that step is gone. Seems now it's what's affordable for most hobbiests is Studio or Poser. Every thing else starts at $1200 a year. And I have been seriously looking at C4D. Which I chose carrara over at the time.

i remember when c4d gave carrara users a competitive upgrade price.
