Subject: Is there a script out there to change many surface nodes at the same time?

RAMWorks ( ) posted Mon, 29 March 2021 at 7:11 PM · edited Mon, 02 December 2024 at 9:29 AM

I'm trying to remain with Poser 11 for content creation for the most part but I would dearly love to know if there is such a script out there. I have some pretty intense surface nodes on some of my clothing and shoes and changing out ONE at a time since there is no way to Shift Select surfaces (like you can in DAZ Studio) I'm just so over doing this one at at time in Poser.

Thanks for the help! Richard

Although not all the features work, EZmat does have a mat assignment feature that works very nicely. Give it a try ... Let us know if it works.

If you're using the exact same materials for all the material zones, you can right-click in the area with the nodes, select all, and then apply to all. Then hold shift and use the remove detached nodes wacro. (the buttons just right of the nodes if you don't see them, click the 3 dots.) This will override everything so if it's something like skin or hair that uses multiple texture/trans maps will get messed up. Also, save before you use the remove detached nodes because it sometimes crashes poser.

Thanks Boni! I do have that and just installed it. I'll give it a go.

RedP thank you but no I'm just talking about changing out one map for all the surfaces without disturbing all the other nodes that are set up and tweaked to perfection!

Converse problem: How to apply same set of 3~~4 texture maps to many objects when an import breaks to umpteen sub-rigs ??

This was sorta-solved when horrified artist re-exported their FBX 2018 (v7.5) model as 'optional' FBX 2013 (v7.3).

But, I'd been facing 100++ sub-rigs. Tedious enough parenting them a dozen at a time to a 'dummy' place-holder via hierarchy window...

Until artist did fix, my best hope was to convert model to OBJ, still with those 100++ parts and their 'use mtl' calls, use word-processor to search / replace...

@NikKelly The only one I can think of that is still available is Dimension3D - XS Shader Manager here in the marketplace. There used to be others but they are no longer available do to store closures, etc.

Note that XS is only for poser 11 and earlier. And you'll need Snarlygribbly's AV Fix to use it in the current poser 11.

The only drawback to using it is, if you need help/support, you will have to rely on the community since Dimension3D is no longer with us.

Consider me insane if you wish, but is your reality any better?

Thank you.

Sadly, I'd been planning (& saving) to upgrade to P_12 later this year, so D3D's utility would not be a long-term solution...
