The original plastic kit kind of hedged on how the operator fit in the suit with lots of padding hiding his body. More recent kits and kit-bashes speculated on ways arms and legs fit into the suit, but it seems to me, one size fits all for a hard suit wouldn't work very well. I opted for a fairly uncomfortable seated position.

I modeled the interior to resemble many of the kit models, but made it roomier and tailored it to my approach.
The front part is very different, with displays and controls.

I've begun rigging the suit, a more complicated job than for my usual models because the different parts interfere with each other. Even the hatch has two motions to open.
The suit shell opens up for relatively easy entry and exit. Each of these actions are performed with a single parameter dial.

There will be several design variations:

I took a break for a short vacation. Still refining the textures. Here are a few interior views.

Because the arm and leg parts are mostly rigid and some parts interfere with each other some coordinated movement is controlled at the Body level. Body parts not requiring coordination will be controlled at the part level. There are Body level dials that simulate walking and running.

The third version of the A.F.S. is a prototype with less external sensing capability. This render shows the scale. It's about 8 and a half feet tall.

Back in the mid 1980s I had plastic model of an odd-looking armor suit. It's still available in several variations. My Poser version of the suit will be a complement to my Hover Tank or any sci-fi scene. Here's a toon render early in the development process.
