The Convair XP-55 Ascender was an experimental fighter aircraft from the end of WW II. It had a pusher propeller, highly swept-back wings with rudders near their tips, and large canard-form elevators on the nose. Its odd configuration gave the initial impression that it flew backwards, Three prototypes were built and flown, one of which still exists. The design had serious low speed control deficiencies and was ultimately unsuccessful.
