I'm working on this animation where a guy rides in a car for 500 frames he then gets out of the car and walks into the house...

I set the car as the figures parent for the first 500 frames of the animation, then reset the figure parent to the universe for the remainder. I then locked the car animation so when I re-timed the scene the car wouldn't be affected. It took me a whole day to figure out why I couldn't edit the figure the first 500 frames, subsequent frames behaved normally... I checked that the figure wasn't locked I also checked that the individual parts of the figure weren't locked. I released him from the car right? Yeah but for some reason those first 500 frames are locked with the locked car.

I unlocked the car and all's well, everything returned to normal.... A real head scratcher for awhile....
