New Poser Users Help F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 20 3:39 am)
New to Poser? Ask questions here for expert help!
Not sure if it's any help, and I shall probably be shouted at for giving "mis-information"... but Poser 12 reportedly support the latest FBX specifications. The changelog shows that latest bleed-edge public beta for Daz Studio (4.20.1.58) has had an enormous about of work done on FBX in the last few updates, and also some work on OBJ.

Thanks for watching !!
Issue with FBX, as I understand it, is that even P_11 is happy with recent FBX generated by Autodesk's official SDK aka 'Rigged in Maya'. It's the 'third-party' stuff generated by eg Blender plug-ins that are the problem.
I've mentioned else-where that I've seen Blender & plug-ins develop a 'sweet-spot', temporarily generate a bunch of well-behaved rigs. Then, either Blender or its plug-in got a version tweak, and its FBX files stopped 'playing nice' with Poser...
Here's one that only generated a dozen or so sub-rigs on export via Noesis. By using Poser hierarchy to identify, hide then delete surplus options, I got sub-rig count down to five (5)...

I use collada / DAE when exporting scenes from DAZ to poser (11) and can't export as a cr2. When I try exporting FBX, daz always recenters everything in the scene and when i bring it into poser everything is dead 0. DAE seems to retain where everything was and imports just fine.

Consider me insane if you wish, but is your reality any better?

I often use free Noesis (4.44) to port XNA/Lara .MESH.ASCII and GMod/SFM .MDL/.VTF formats to FBX.
Okay, Poser I/O often struggles with rigged FBX figures, but, hey...
As Poser documentation and I/O menus claim it can import Collada / DAE format, and Noesis claims to export such, I thought I'd try that.
Noesis made all the right noises, displays job-log, but no DAE file emerges.
After several such failures, I wondered if due to sheer complexity of figures. So, I fetched out a 'prim', tried that...
.dae - COLLADA
Detected file type: WaveFront OBJ
Parsing WaveFront .obj...
Parsing 'Cubox.mtl'.
Performing RichPGeo::Optimize on 24 verts and 12 triangles...
Finished with 24 verts and 12 triangles in 0.00 seconds.
Exporting to COLLADA.
Saving COLLADA document.
Attempting to write to filtered path:
'E:\Po_WIP\__XPS2\Darkness Rises - Assassin Swimdress (KR)\cubox.dae'.
No, even that did not work.
Weird, or what ??
I've sent a technical query to Noesis but, meanwhile, is any-one importing Collada / .DAE to Poser ??
