Poser Technical F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 04 2:47 am)
Welcome to the Poser Technical Forum.
Where computer nerds can Pull out their slide rules and not get laughed at. Pocket protectors are not required. ;-)
This is the place you come to ask questions and share new ideas about using the internal file structure of Poser to push the program past it's normal limits.
New users are encouraged to read the FAQ sections here and on the Poser forum before asking questions.
AniMate is for Daz Studio, so far as I know.
Though I guess it may be possible to load them to a Daz Studio figure, export them for Poser, and apply to the same figure? Others will be able to say if that's possible or not with at least the older V4 generation of figures. It would be useful if you could say what generation figure (V4, G3, G8) you plan to animate.
Also - last I heard, the forum mods don't to see web links to other stores.

Just in case: when it comes to animation, there's a free program that's able to interpolate the missing frames.. Give it enough pics and it can create an animation for you.
DAIN.
I tested it 2 years ago and it was... surprisingly good

First off, "Thanks" again for all the replies ^_^
@HartyBart: I had intended on using the program for Victoria 4, and that is why I thought it was for Poser (the product I mentioned was made to animate V4, so I just assumed it was for Poser).
I haven't tried any animations with Daz yet (I can barely render a good Iray image after hours, have no idea if my poor system can handle rendering many images in sequence for animations).
@Y-Phil: I'll check out the link. Can it be used for either Poser or Daz?
@Bwldrd: I do have the aniBlock Importer for Poser , another reason I thought it was for Poser. If the AniMate program isn't for poser though, I have no idea how to use this product then. I'll try to find some kind of tutorial, though.
With the importer you run the script and select the GFA file you want to use. If you don't have enough frames on the animation timeline it will tell you to add the required number. You then have to run the script again and select the GFA that you wish to use. It will then add the animation to the character. All inside poser. No need for Animate. If needed, later I can post some screenshots of the process.

Consider me insane if you wish, but is your reality any better?
Ok, so with Daz Studio + V4 + Aniblock Importer for Poser + Poser 11 + AVfix, it sounds like you could do it. Thanks for the info that it works with AVfix, Bwldrd.
chupacabra555 - for loading and testing a V4 aniblock animation in Daz, switch the Viewport window to something very fast and OpenGL, not Iray.

DAIN works as a standalone program: give it a folder with a list of pics and it will create a movie.

"DAIN works as a standalone program: give it a folder with a list of pics and it will create a movie."
Thank you. That is very useful to know.
( Nearest I've come to Poser animation was an imported FBX 'monster' that included several motions. 'Duty Cat' loved it !! Oh, and that 'weirdly wonky' FBX which stepped on Poser internals, made the camera yRotate very, very slowly, such that framed objects sorta crept off-screen while your back was turned... {FX: WTF ? Nape-hair up-stands !! } )

Forgive me asking what is probably a really simple question to answer (and I've done a quick forum search, with no good results), but......
Although I have had various versions of Poser for years (currently using Poser 11), I haven't done many animations using the software, usually just preset animations in the 'Poses' directory.
Planning on doing so eventually, I have picked up some of the various 'Aniblock' products from GoFigure, such as this one ('Chiller Dance Moves for V4), with Halloween coming up and all ^_^

Maybe I've been mistaken, but I had always thought that AniMate came with Poser (I certainly haven't been able to find the program separately on Daz3d or Renderosity). Again, I could be wrong, so if the program is available for purchase and I missed that somehow please let me know (I do know that AniMate2 for Daz Studio is still available at the Daz site, though).
So, basically, what is it that I am missing? Can't find AniMate on my installation of Poser 11 (could have somehow missed installing it), can't find it for purchase separately, like for AniMate2, and even then I would probably need a tutorial on its use (easily enough to find, but since I'm here, I might as well ask).
If anyone out there can help me, please let me know, and "Thank You" ^_^
