Hi fellows, since I released some content for Poser, I wonder if there is an overview or statistic on downloads for Poser stuff per item in average. It seems I hit an average of 60 downloads per item. Numbers are higher if the content is heading towards the "sexy" stuff, of course.😁 I think the question is how broad or narrow the user base of Poser really is.

I know that the downloads are getting counted so I thought it might be interesting to have a look at the numbers in general and I think it would help content creators to make content that meets the needs of the customers. 

Any thoughts or suggestions about this?

I'm not sure that you'd be able to get an accurate view of customers needs based on the number of downloads of a freebie item.  The other thing is, the number of downloads will continue to increase over time. 

I removed a lot of "old days" freestuff long ago so I don' t have much in there any longer.  I do have three La Femme things in freestuff, all uploaded in 2019. One is a UV set (for use with UV Mapper), and two of them are face morphs (one Asian and one Fairy). The UVs have 950 downloads, the Asian face morph has 992 downloads, and the fairy head morph has 502.

It's been ages since I have even looked at the numbers, but seeing as they have been up for four years, that's an average of between 125 and 242 downloads per year. 

I doubt that one can relate that information to how broad or narrow the Poser user base is, though. 8-)

I get your point. I also have a fairly old item in storage and it's still creates downloads. It was just a hypothetical question.

What do you think about something like a poll to evaluate what's missing in the content portfolio?

Unfortunately it's been my experience that when or if you try to create content that "fills the gaps", or even that has been requested in the forums, those items actually generate the least amount of sales.

I think we've all been there, thinking "What can I make that is different from everything else?"  The only thing I can suggest it to make what you enjoy making, and experiment with different things. Eventually you'll find your sweet spot and your niche.  

For example, I enjoy period clothing and fantasy type clothing. It might not be the most popular, but it's what I like to do. 8-)

Just speaking for myself, I haven't had time to go through the freebies for a long time. In fact I'm even way behind on downloading the stuff I've bought. Too many projects! Hasn't stopped me from buying new stuff though...  ;/
