Carnival is all over. From my understanding, it's longer than one day in some places. The Tuesday before Ash Wednesday is just the last day, Mardi Gras. In New Orleans Louisiana, it starts on Twelfth Night (the 12th and final day of Christmas) and runs until Mardi Gras.

I live in Switzerland. Mainly, Carnival is present in some catholic parts + some "as-if" in other parts. The most known is the "Morgenstreich", something that happen in Bâle (north): fife and drums at 4 a.m., the effect is incredible. I lie near "Lake Leman", in Monthey, ours is less but still famous, too.Wait - are you two brazilian too or is carnaval more widespread than I thought? LOL!

Oh that's very cool! I knew there were carnivals in other places, but I didn't know they were the same time of the year! Really nice.

I think some of that may come from the fact that Americans use the word carnival for a travelling amusement park, which of course can happen at any time of the year but has nothing to do with the original meaning of the word.Oh that's very cool! This is what I found from Britannica.com:
"Carnival, the merrymaking and festivity that takes place in many Roman Catholic countries in the last days and hours before the Lenten season. The derivative of the word is uncertain, though it possibly can be traced to the medieval Latin carnem levare or carnelevarium, which means to take away or remove meat. This coincides with the fact that Carnival is the final festivity before the commencement of the austere 40 days of Lent, during which Roman Catholics in earlier times fasted, abstained from eating meat, and followed other ascetic practices. The historical origin of Carnival is also obscure. It possibly has its roots in a primitive festival honouring the beginning of the new year and the rebirth of nature, though it is also possible that the beginnings of Carnival in Italy may be linked to the pagan Saturnalian festival of ancient Rome."
Right! I should not have made assumptions as how the different meanings of carnival are related. Anyway, it can refer to pre-lent festivities as well as festivities that are completely unrelated to lent.Actually, the pronunciation is different despite the spelling similarity. I would have to research the definition and origin of the word.

Carnival is associated with pre-Lent festivities although the celebration itself may have transcended from pagan celebrations heralding Spring renewal and rebirth. In the Americas, the festivities that you see today are a fusion of many cultural backgrounds from different parts of the world. However, it still finds its association with ancient Roman Catholicism.
The other carnival was a term coined in America in the 1920s and, with a different pronunciation, is associated with a traveling circus.
In our city, Carnival is typically there to celebrate the end of winter, and on Tuesday evening, the last day of the Carnival, we burn what we call the Winter Man, after a judgment made in the public square, in front of everyone. The party

I do love how the texture are appearing, honestly. It's just the scarf that slightly bothers me: it's too square at the ends (it lacks somewhat of... natural pose?), and as I'm not a modeler, I wouldn't know what to do, except with the morphing tool.

That's procedural? Very nicely done. I don't suppose you'd like to share? Thanks! I was trying to make my procedural knit pattern look better in closeups by using bump, displacement and subsurface scattering together. I'm not a material room wiz, but I think it turned out quite nice.
Regarding the ends, I would think the squareness that Y-Phil mentions (and I agree) could be addressed with a transmap (so it's simply not square) or add a map that overlays or replaces the ends of the pattern, e.g., a horizonal line across the weave to imply a hem.
