Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 15 11:01 am)
You could try this. No promises it will work, but I have done it in the past. From the old computer make a copy of the Poser program folder and put it somewhere were the new computer can access it. On the New computer install your copy of Poser anywhere but the C Drive programs folder. I always put my Poser on my computers E: Drive. Once you have installed Poser it won't be working. At his point rename the Poser Program folder on the new computer from Poser Pro 12 to something else such as ZPoser Pro 2012. Now from the location where the old computers Poser is stored copy that to the same drive and make sure it is named what you renamed the new computer Poser folder From. This should not be a problem as both of them should have been named Poser Pro 2012. This puts all the required files on the computer. You may need to put in your serial number when you first run Poser.

So you're saying instead of installing a fresh version from my PP2012 installer, copy my existing version from my old computer to my new one? I could do that to an external hard drive easily. I have all my serial numbers too. Cool. I'll uninstall the installation I have installed yesterday and give this a try. Thanks so much! Fingers crossed!!

There is no need to uninstall. In fact it might be best not to uninstall as that will probably remove the file extension associations with Poser. Just rename the Poser Pro 2012 folder to something else. Windows won't know any better and as soon as your old computers folder is in place everything should be as if you did all the updates to the program .

Yea, yea, I know. I'm still using PoserPro 2012. Been using it for years, so everything you see in my gallery that's 3D was either rendered in PP2012 or setup there and rendered in Vue. It works, lol. Still have my old copies of Vue too. I refuse to pay $20 a month for a product you used to be able to pay for one time and you owned it. It works fine too. I also have 27 runtimes for Poser, so clearly I have a LOT of content. I even have a surprising amount of iRay only content in my Daz library that I had purchased off and on when it was on sale! So I'm off and running there.
I recently received for my BD a very nice and most unexpected gift from my youngest daughter and her hubby. A nice workhorse computer to replace my old workhorse sitting in the corner of my office. I was planning on buying a new one after I'm done with the current web design I'm working on for a client. Needless to say I'm very grateful!
So now I'm installing my 3D stuff and Photoshop on the new computer. And yes, I'm going to start working with DS again, now that I can use iRay.
Anywho, does anyone recall the little trick used to get the PP2012 Service Release Pack 3.1 to install? It throws that error saying there is not a valid installment of poser on the computer. I honestly can't remember despite having installed it on this computer I'm on right now. I know it makes a huge difference in Poser for rendering, dynamic clothe, etc. And I like using Poser for setups to import into Vue.
Any help would be oh so greatly appreciated!!
