i'm doing a sci-fi comic and looking to make humans look more rubber/plastic. what dials do i need to adjust to experiment with this? I am using m4/v4 models and want them to look more either shiny or dull but just off in someway so they don't quite look human.

Specularity will do the job.  You didn't specify whether it was for Firefly or Superfly rendering.

Reduce your diffuse values and increase the specular values using white as your specular color.
