Okay let me just say that this was taken BEFORE I got any advice on how to take candlelit photos, hence the..well...result. So this was my first try and this is what I wasn't happy with.

Alpha, slow down and let YOU agree with ME for a change! He's said it already, what can I say? U obviously didn't need that advice too much anyways...very nice tone and atmosphere. Now where's me camel...?

Marshmallowpie ( ) posted Sun, 20 May 2001 at 7:45 PM

lol...thanks. I had a lot of fun playing around with this, the thing I don't like is the very yellow tone - but that seems to be impossible to escape. Uh..Camel? :-P

Now my turn for my two ( uh, what is the slang for euros? ) Is there a equivalent phrase for the American ( Yank? - egad is that a sexual based slang? =:-P > ) Anyway is there an equivalent for the phrase ( two cents. As in LET ME PUT IN MY TWO CENTS ). Marshmallo, camel either refers to the humped things because of the feel of the image reminds one of the interior some bedouin tent or it means a camel ( cigerette - have a smoke ). I personally like that you managed to capture the smoke comming from the candle. I think you can capture the flame by using a flash. Personnally I always have problem with candles. Hey Alpha or sombody isn't there a filter which you can use to remove the yellow. Look around I think you want to remove the same wavelenght of light which comes from sodium. So anything which would work well for flourscent lamps should work. Now that I think of it. Kodak make a program which can make allowances for flouscent lighting. It's called Photoenhancer. Personally I think it's better this way you have a wonderfull mood here. But just my opinion. Bsteph

I agree guys above, the mood have been captured here, and thats the most important thing. Pic is nice, not the most professional pic, but really nice. You can be happy with this. ..yellow color is really hard to remove. I played with photoshop, and results are red, green or blue. Really hard to get good balance without that yellowish look. And I like that yellow. -N

Oh, Bsteph, you always get one Smart Alec, don't you?! However, you were right in your assumption that I was referring to a bedouin tent. Well, the exact thought that came across my mind was a harem, but there y'go. And Marshy, don't think of it as yellow - think of it as Gold....it has a nice, rich glow...... :-)

Hehe..okay then... thanks :)

What! What! Good to know my true personality come's through. I somtimes wonder if others realize that I am joking. What with the dark pictures and such. But seriously to answer Marshmellowpie's question I THINK there is a physical camera filter which can remove the yellow tint. Bsteph

That would be pretty cool. I'll ask around.. :)

Hi Marshmellowpie, I looked around some magazines last night. I could have sworn that I read about a filter which handled such things but all I could find were UV filter information. This may bring out the other colors but I am not sure if it will do much for the yellow tint. Besides there won't be much UV light indoors. =:-) > Polarizing filters which is great for sunny days but again indoors? I'll keep looking. Because I too would like to get rid of the ubiqutious yellow tint. Bsteph Pe

I actually used a polarizing filter when I took this photo - well, I'm not sure if it was this one. I had 2 identical photos, one I used an UV filter and for the other i used a polarizing filter but there was virtually no difference at all. Anyway, thanks for the info, I'll see what I can find...

JordyArt ( ) posted Wed, 23 May 2001 at 2:28 PM

Lol! I didn't know those magazines with photo's in actually went into any TECHNICAL detail, Bsteph!?! No wonder you're so keen to search for more info!

See Jordy you are really making it hard for me. You continue to give me these straight line for me to build jokes upon. Still trying to be serious. There is a magazine called Digital Camera. I bought one issue and it was filled with usefull information. It should be on your side of the Atlantic "pond". If I can think of any more I'll let you know. Bsteph
