There are many such packages on the market, the one I use and am very happy with is Truespace by Caligari. I believe they currently have an offer on for their latest version. Whichever one you buy I would suggest that you where ever possible try out a demo version.

Rhino3d goes for about $800 and is very good. They also have a full feature demo(limited saves). PhilC is right personal preference is an important factor.____________________________________________________

Being new to Poser and 3d in general I was hoping for suggestions on the best software package (with a price tag around $600 or less) to use in the creation of original Poser4 (with Pro Pack) Figures. I have a much better than most grasp on computer programming and operations and so I was able to make the learning curve on the "How" to do it from the Poser4 manual. What I need help with is choosing the 3d modeling program to use as I am unfamiliar with them. I plan to be making more animals than people. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks!
