Here's a link to the new E-On Software example of how Poser will work with Vue 4. The new features list is really HUGE! You need to visit the E-On Software website to see all the new features, plus pricing and MAC version news... WWW.E-ONSOFTWARE.COM

Cool. The scene kind of looks a little washed out though. I would think that you would want the foreground elements to be affected by the fog a little less in order to help create more depth to the scene. But it's a nice image. :-)

I got the Vue 2 from 3d world mag, last month. I like it...Not sure about better than Bryce, though. How much is 99lb, in American money, do you know? Thanks.

Visit the E-On Website. They have all the pricing for various version upgrades. This new version, Vue 4, blows nearly everything previously out of the water. Click on the sample images and realise that this is a program that fully imports Poser, has stunning high-end 3D effects, and only costs $199 LIST. $129 if upgrading from Vue 3.1 to Vue 4... You will learn very little about how powerful the new Vue 4 is, even if you use Vue 3.1. The new Vue 4 version is a huge jump ahead in MANY ways. The beta-testers, some of whom are also Bryce users, are totally nuts about this new version...

How much is 99lb, in American money, do you know? -- I can't swear to it, but I believe the conversion brings the 99 pound v.2freebie -> v.3.1 to about $149US. There is also (just announced) a special upgrade for the v.2freebie -> v.4, so you might want to skip over v.3 and go right to 4. :)

You can already import posed models and their textures, has anyone heard anything about just what the improvement actually does? Dan

Varian ( ) posted Tue, 22 May 2001 at 11:35 PM

Hi Dan, The improvement is that with v.4, you'll be importing directly from the PZ3. So you won't need to export a separate model from Poser (plus additional models, clothes, props, etc). You won't need to remember where all the textures are located, won't need to change BUM to BMP, won't need to twiddle with the Y-1 for the texture or play invert with the transparencies. From what I've heard, you just select Object Import and point it to the PZ3 and everything just comes on in. Your program features (which Mike has told us so much about) will still be very handy for persons staying with v.3. :)

I only wish this would work with animations as well... Ed

Fox-Mulder ( ) posted Wed, 23 May 2001 at 12:30 AM

Actually I think the E-On folks are working on it (full Poser animation in Vue) but not in this Vue 4 release. But I know that when Vue 3 was upgraded to Vue 3.1 it had significant improvements. We might just see a Vue 4.1 or something like that, with full Poser animation. There is SO MUCH NEW STUFF in Vue 4 that they had a lot of things on their plate just to get this incredible new release out... Personally I think Vue 4 should sell for $595 or $795. When you really look at all the new professional features and effects, Vue 4 is EXTREMELY UNDER-PRICED in my opinion...

Hi Varian, thanks, I guess I was wondering if they had remembered you needed to greyscale the .bum files to have them work correctly and invert trans. As for clicking on a pz3 in Vue4 and that's it, that's exactly how it works with VueMaster, except you would click on the obj in Vue. You see, in VM you click on the pz3, then the exported obj, and that's it. You don't have to browse for textures or anything else. To quote Martin from a post on the Vue Forum: "One scene I exported consisted of Posette, Zygote Eagle, P4 Dog, Dork and Buck. Dork and Posette were fully clothed, and VM handled it without a hickup. All the textures appeared without fault in Vue...but it did take some time to import the OBJ file in the first place LOL! As Mike mentioned, any app that can read .MTL files should be OK with VM." Please note that this is five models plus their clothes and textures, but it is still just a click for the pz3 and a click for the exported obj. IF Vue4 does indeed greyscale .bum maps and invert trans, this app would certainly be redundant for Vue4 users, but if the import is as crippled as the one for RDS, it will save a lot of time and aggravation for Vue4 as well as Vue3 users. Fox-Mulder: stop giving Eon ideas about the pricing! LOL, Dan http://www.neca.com/~dwilmes/cr2edit.html Sorry Win only for software http://www.zenwareonline.com for ZenPaint, ZenTile, ZenGrid and VueMaster

The upgrade from the Vue 2.x free version to 4.0 is only $10 cheaper than buying the full 4.0 version. No savings at all if you bought the magazine to get the free version :(
