Hi! I did two things...no three... I built my vue web site http://www.geocities.com/sjagh/index.html and created my second vue image "Out Back" - so I hope you will visit and comment. I am not sure about putting the link to the image itself, because I am having trouble with my front page98 wanting to create htm pages and geocities wanting html pages! :( hmmm, well, I guess you can try: http://www.geocities.com/sjagh/outback.htm and if that does not work then start at the index page and go to my gallery page... pretty please and thank you! Oh! The third thing I did was CRASH my machine (how did that happen???) trying to build this picture.. could it be because the fence posts were all "terrain2's" and in a group? I grouped it to make it easier to move...added lots of bonny clumps..and boom! But I still love vue! hee hee! Sara

Very pretty Sara, and I agree it could stand to have an animal of some sort in it. How about some ducks? Sorry to hear about your crash, but you just learned Vue's most important lesson-- always save,, save save! Especially when your pics begin to get really complicated. I will tend to re-save an entire scene after everything I add or move or alter once it's gotten alot of objects in it. Pretty website too. :)

Sams3D has a really nice split rail fence mesh as one of their freebies! You may want to check it out Sara. Terrains do have a tendency to crash Vue 3 (I have lots of practice...LOL), especially if they are very hi-res. You may want to give it a shot. If you'd like some animals in there you may want to check out some of Lyne's things...she has ducks and goats that would work and they just pop right into Vue "with all their clothes on" as she puts it...LOL. And they are only 17 dollars each :) No, this is not an advertisement...I'm just a big fan of her models :). Laurie

The site is looking good, Sara. I like the title bar over your pictures; kind of a cool look. :) Mike's right about saving, and Laurie's right about using terrains, and I...I just like the new picture! :)

Oh, wow! I got the fence, will try...although I am trying to learn to BUILD things in vue, using vue... Like your tutorials show, Laurie...but ready-made is good too! I have Lyne's macaw... now, where is that credit card!?!? oh oh! (did you see Sam's horse things!?) Thanks all... I shall be back! :) Sara

Yeah, Laurie's work is an amazing example of what can be done with a paint program and some Vue terrains. Me, I don't have the patience for it, but that technique is extremely versatile. It would be cool if a terrain could be rotated in 3D in the terrain editor, so that all sides could be worked on. :)

Mike, something closely similar would be the symmetrical lattice feature in Bryce, where you can work on both sides of a terrain (so to speak). And guess what version 4 listed "symmetrical terrains" as an upcoming feature? 8-) Methinks Laurie will be very busy this summer - LOL!

Ooooohhh... that's right, and I didn't even think about it. But, y'know, I never messed around with Bryce's symmetrical lattice, either....LOL! Yeah, I imagine Laurie will be having alot of fun with it...for that matter, I think I'll have to give that one a try this time around!

Visted your site Sara its really cool. I'm on the road so much I haven't had a chance to really do as much with Vue as I wanted to. But hopefully this summer I'll be able to get into it more. Geez having to learn how to make a website too? (groan) Re: Outback I don't know about ducks since theres no pond. But maybe something small like a rabbit or squirrel. Or slightly larger like a lamb or goat or something. A cow or horse might be too big for the scene. Anyway its a nice piece. Thanks for sharing.

Well, three times are a charm, right? GRIN! I have had trouble learning this posting thing too, and accidentally posted two messages before... there is a delete thing here somewhere.. but thanks for the encouragement, and suggestions! :) I got distracted by trying a moonlite ocean scene.. vue is so easy, it is FUN, in that it sort of builds it's own scenes for you... I mean, scenes just sort of happen! I feel like I am interacting with another person or something! It is hard to explain! Is that too weird?? Anyway, after I get the night scene done, (and buy another package from Lyne's Creations) I will re-do the Out Back picture! :)

LOL! It's easy to get distracted by Vue :). I've usually got no less than 3 or 4 scenes going all at the same time. Most times I start one and don't finish it for months, especially if I'm not inspired at the time. But I usually go back to them at some point :). Laurie

That post above is signed "Laurie" but it could just as readily have been signed by me. I have a bunch of VUE files I call "Play", "Play Some More", "Play Here" and etc. I work on building scenes using them, and when something reaches a finishing point, I save it with an actual title to another directory. Then I go back and re-use the "Play" file for working on a new scene. :)

Yeah, thank God Vue saves little preview thumnails of the scene files, eh? Me, I'm much less imaginitive: my WIP files tend to be, 001, 002, 003, etc..... :/
