Has anyone tried remapping Shine by Biomechanix? It seems as though she was mapped in Max, because when I open her UV maps in UVMapper theyre all overlapped and jumbled. Can someone post a link to a tutorial on remapping models in UVMapper? Best I can do so far is a planar map that doesnt allow you to have much detail :( This character has so much potential, but her skin looks so horribly poser 3. Cheers

Heres a back view. She really needs a new skin texture :(

however - is the hair a model or postwork :o)

The hair on her is actually a mesh -- not transmapped. Each strand is actually modelled individually. You would think that it would take hours to render because of the high polys, but it actually renders much faster than transmapped hair. If I could remap her, then create a decent texture for the exposed skin/face, she would be perfect.

where can I get Shine?

You can find her here. Theres a pretty hefty price-tag on her. I had to buy her for a client and I nearly had a heart-attack when I saw how much she costs.

It's that old "Army Toilet Syndrome"! As long as there are rich clients willing to pay...you can get away with charging the most outrageous prices for anything!

I'd rather stay in my lane than lay in my stain!

IIRC (it's been a while since I hit the site), BioMechanix models are only "affordable" if you can come up with the money to buy several; I believe they had some kind of bulk discount, but even then you're paying an arm and a leg for each arm and leg you buy... ;-)

GULP! just looked...and NO texture maps???

She IS a Babe, though, isn't she!?! Too bad Daz doesn't have anything that sexy :(

I'd rather stay in my lane than lay in my stain!

Eight hundred dollars. She'd better be JCMed out the ass, Mimic-ready, expression-heavy, come with three changes of clothes, a walk, a run, and a picture of the cigarette boat these mooks think they're buying with the profits.

Eight hundred dollars? Carolly

Schlabber ( ) posted Wed, 13 June 2001 at 3:11 AM

that's a really big joke (mean the price) :o) - that's well overpriced ... that is simply possible with only Poser4 (if I only have the time ... :o( )

InBlack ( ) posted Wed, 13 June 2001 at 7:50 AM

I seriously doubt you'd be able to produce hair like that using only Poser.

CharlieBrown ( ) posted Wed, 13 June 2001 at 10:18 AM

Actually, that's LOW for the industry. Viewpoint DataLabs generally sold lesser models for about $900 or more, and Zygote's non-Poser stuff runs around that price. Still, it IS a lot of money!

InBlack ( ) posted Wed, 13 June 2001 at 11:13 AM

Have you ever looked at some of the Viewpoint models? Theyre pretty pathetic for the most part. I cant believe some of the basic crap theyre selling for hundreds of dollars, they look like someones first attempts at modelling.

duanemoody ( ) posted Wed, 13 June 2001 at 1:31 PM

Shh! You're giving away their corporate secrets! Embarrassing to think we do better work here with Posette/Dork/Vicky/Mike, really.

smallspace ( ) posted Wed, 13 June 2001 at 7:30 PM

This doesn't even come close to taking the cake. There's a company that's offering 30 low-poly aircraft models for the low, low price of $9,500.00 Don't believe me? Check the link: http://virtualworlddevelopers.com/specialmodeloffer.html Don't think that because they're in open flight format that they're something special, because they're not. Any 3D model can be converted to open flight in seconds using a translator like 3D Exploration.

I'd rather stay in my lane than lay in my stain!
