Subject: Making V2 MOR pose files, need a little help, please

I know that when you are making a Vicki 1 character, you can spawn the morphs, let's say on her head, and create a new dial, set it at 1.0, then everything else to 0 and you have your morphed character, right? Ok, I'm sure you can do that on a V2, but when it comes to making the morph pose file, how do you add that dial and have it morph V2 into your character? I did try the spawn morph on one, saved it as a pose file and tried it on another V2 model and the head didn't change at all. I hope that makes sense! I've been trying to figure this out all day and my mind is somewhat muddles! Any help is appreciated!!!! Thanks! Cindy

Have the MT set to 1, all the others to 0. Export the head as a .obj file with all options except 'as morph target' unchecked. Load the .obj on the new head. Easy ... ;-)

There's no way to save it as a morph pose file? I mean, I made a morph file, using PoserArcana's tutorial, worked fine, but then I remembered that all the dials were set when I loaded the file on the model. Do I have to "tell" the morph file to look for that obj file when loading the morph pose file? Can you see me pulling my hair out!?! LOL! Cindy

OK, I'm obviously not catching what you're throwing. ;-) Give me a link to the tutorial you where using and I'll take a look.

All I'm really wanting to do is hide the individual settings on the figure using a pose file that morphs the figure, similar to a MAT file that just loads the eye colors or the textures, only it just morphs the figure. It's explained in the tutorial, all except how to hide the settings, unless I missed something. Thanks A LOT for helping! Cindy

OK, had a chance to look through the tutes. It all looks pretty straight forward. I think you've added something to the mix here. When you say you want to 'hide the individual settings' are you saying that you want ONLY the MT dial for the full body MT to be visible in the dials panel? And if so is that the case for all body parts?

cf2000 ( ) posted Thu, 28 June 2001 at 9:35 PM

Yep, that's pretty much what I want. I think I may have it figured out. I think if I make a full body morph, zero all the settings on everything, except the morph and then follow the rest of the tutorial, it might work. Does that sound like it might work to you? I'm gonna try it anyway and see what happens. If it doesn't work, I'll just try something else, or be bald from pulling out my hair, or possibly both! LOL! Thanks again! Cindy

All they're really doing in the tutes, at least as far as the MTs are concerned, is cutting the dial values from a .pz3 and pasting them into the template. Removing the dials is a different story and I'd urge proceeding with caution. Work only on copies of your files. With that said, one way to REMOVE the dials is to go to the heirachy editor, click the checkbox 'Show Parameters'. You can now go down the list and delete the MTs you don't want with the delete key. You could also try adding another parameter to the template. Directly above the 'keys' parameter, add 'hidden 1' for each of the dials you want to hid. Doing it this way is safer since it doesn't actually remove any information. It just hids the dial. This should do what you want in this case.

I don't want to remove the dials themselves, just the settings for the dials. I misread your earlier post, sorry. Didn't mean to confuse both of us! I want to add an MT to, say the head, that is labeled "JoesHead". Set it at 1.0 and set the others at 0. I know how to do that, no problem. What I don't get is how to put that MT information into the pose file for V2 so that when someone loads V2 they can then load my pose file onto V2 and poof, it's morphed into my model. I followed the tutes and everything was fine, worked like a charm, but then I remembered that the pose file didn't remove the individual dial settings, such as "Nose 1" is set at 1.672. I want the 1.672 gone and set at 0. Like when you buy a model, all the dials are set at 0, except the MT that the creator put onto the model, which is set at 1.0. I know how to do this with Vicki1, but V2 threw me for a loop with having to make the files, like in the tutorials. I really do appreciate your help. If I can't figure it out, I'll just leave it as is, and be happy that I, suprisingly, figured out as much as I did! :) Thanks! Cindy

If you want others to be able to use the same character, you can't use an additional morph in it because others don't have it (ie. JoesHead). I think you need to set the original dials to the way you want them to be, then save the pose file and say 'yes' when the program asks you if you want to include morph channels (or something like that).
