Subject: Poser and BUM issues

e-on ( ) posted Mon, 02 July 2001 at 4:29 AM ยท edited Tue, 26 November 2024 at 10:43 PM

We are currently in the process of fixing the crash that happens sometimes when importing Poser models. We think that we have solved the problem (it is apparently linked to having parts of the model that are UV mapped, and others that are not). We'd appreciate if you could send us any files that cause repeatable trouble (together with maps) so that we can check them out (send files to sbell.support@e-onsoftware.com). Also, problems have been reported with BUM imports. We have identified one problem (the BUM file loads black) thanks to a file sent by SmallSpace (thankies), but if you have BUM files that cause some other kind of trouble, we'd like to see them too... Thanks for your help! Steve.

Thanks for the info, Steve. You KNOW I'll keep you informed if I find anything else. ;) -SMT

Wow, a software house that not only acknowledges problems but actively consults the users to get it fixed. Impressive. Good on yer e-on.

but how come you did not take care of this with the help of your beta testers? I don't understand, I thought that is what they are for... I LOVE my vue 3.1, and am looking forward SO much the the FINISHED version of 4.... but I can see that it is a good idea to wait! It's a lot of money to get and then have to be frustrated by things that should have been done in the first place. I do not need any additional stress in my life, (spending big bucks and getting an unfinished product) so I appreciate the honesty of the loyal users that went ahead and bought it...and let us know what's up! Again, I love vue 3.1- I enjoy my relaxing hours spent with it... Sara

"but how come you did not take care of this with the help of your beta testers?" - Sara, this issue never came up during beta tests. Believe me, we wouldn't have shipped Vue 4 like that otherwise; plus I get to do all the support... :-( Only 2 PZ3 files reported with the problem thus far, and no BUM files. Steve

Dear Sara, a word from an old Vue user : You should not worry to buy Vue 4, because you will love it MUCH more then Vue 3.1. Myself and all the other "oldies" can tell you that e-on never, never ignores us and always gives out fixes as well as updates for an existing version for free. Sure Vue 3.1 is great, but when you have "tasted" Vue 4, you would not like to go back to 3.1 :-) Friendly :-) Guitta

Thanks for the update, I'm as impressed with the support as I am with the new version!! If it's any help, Daz's V2 maps either don't import at all or end up with a black speckle which I assume is the bum map coming up black.

Thank you very much for that, Steve. It is greatly appreciated by most if not all. Larry F
