I was going to post animated GIFs here, but the GIFs turned out to be 4 times bigger than the Quicktimes... To see the cring walk, try the link. Two Quicktime clips, 200K each.

Hey, that's pretty cool! I Love that little Cring thing. :) And the animations turned out great!

Here is another small problem with the Cring models... when you first load the cring male, his feet are underground. No big deal, that can be fixed with "Drop to Floor". But here is the thing... When I take the walk motion (made with the cring male), save it in the pose library, then apply it to the cring female, she comes out walking up in the air. I think this is related to the other problem. This can also be easily fixed. But shouldn't it be unnecessary? (Since the famale is just a 90% size male.)

twillis ( ) posted Wed, 11 July 2001 at 12:51 PM

Rats. I though he did stand on the ground, as did the female. I'll take a look and try to make a patch tonight. I hope people won't hate me too much for having to download all these patches; I know it's a pain. Thanks for letting me know, Doozy. I look forward to checking out the walk when I get home from work. --Terri

I tried it on a few of the original Poser figures, and they have the same behavior, so I guess it is not a fault with the Cring... A pose that works with a figure does not usually work with a re-sized version of the same figure. But then I guess I don't understand why the "thigh length" is included in the PZ2 file... Is that just an unused feature?

Yeah! Looks fun and he's wearing my gold texture, thank you! Do you think you can make the walk file available to us other Cringers? Liz Pope Dreamspinner Inc.

twillis ( ) posted Thu, 12 July 2001 at 8:41 AM

Yes, I meant to ask about sharing the walk file. I'm setting up a Cring World web page, and I'm trying to collect different Cring stuff there, so if you need a place to host a file like that, I can provide it. By the way, everyone, I want to make a Cring World Gallery, so if you have a pic you'd like posted there, email it to cring@jabberdoggy.com. Make sure you include your name for copyright, and a link to your web page if you have one, and want me to link it.

Hey sounds cool twillis.I've made a couple of Cring Poser scenes, but haven't gotten around to taking them into Vue yet and rendering. This seems like a good occasion, though. Gotta love those Crings!

twillis ( ) posted Thu, 12 July 2001 at 12:40 PM

Thanks, Mike. I've really gotten a kick out of seeing what some of you folks have come up with. I've got a couple of other Cring critters coming down the pipe (hey, Cring needs someone to play fetch with, right?), and I hope you all will give them a thorough work out as well.

MikeJ ( ) posted Thu, 12 July 2001 at 9:10 PM

Cool. :) I often go days without reading Poser messages, or checking the Free Stuff, so when you do, any chance you could swing by the Vue d'Esprit forum and mention it? Most of us there use Poser 4, too. :)

twillis ( ) posted Thu, 12 July 2001 at 9:33 PM

Sure!

Dreamspinner ( ) posted Thu, 12 July 2001 at 9:42 PM

Think I should make another skin texture for our Cringers. Liz Pope Dreamspinner Inc.

Coming soon: Rasberry texture and Green Lizard texture! Liz Pope Dreamspinner Inc.

MikeJ ( ) posted Thu, 12 July 2001 at 11:26 PM

Wow Liz, they look great!

Dreamspinner ( ) posted Thu, 12 July 2001 at 11:31 PM

I'm happy with the Lizard texture. Twillis requested it in an e-mail and I was afraid it was going to stretch like mad on the sides, but the stretching is tolerable. I do have this lizard texture in other color variations, so let me know if you all would like another lizard texture. Liz Pope Dreamspinner Inc.

twillis ( ) posted Fri, 13 July 2001 at 7:31 AM

Sorry about the stretching on the size. I'll try to avoid that on the next cring creatures. My brother's been playing with using that stretching to make stripes, for a "hey, I meant to do that" look.

Cring walk available as a CR2 file. Let me know if it works for you.

Dreamspinner ( ) posted Fri, 13 July 2001 at 1:23 PM

Absolutely cool! I need to learn more about animation, I really do. Is there anyway to save your little animation to my computer for later playback? Liz Pope Dreamspinner Inc.

Lemurtek ( ) posted Fri, 13 July 2001 at 2:31 PM

Liz- If you have Quicktime, and the movie has completely loaded in the player window, click on the little downarrow in the lower right hand corner, and you will get a menu, with save as quicktime movie. If that is grayed out it means the movie is 'protected' form downloaded. You can also try right clicking on the movie itself. Regards- Lemurtek

doozy ( ) posted Fri, 13 July 2001 at 5:02 PM

That little arrow may only be there if you pay for "Quicktime Pro"... I don't know about the Windows version.

This should work: Look at the source for the page, and find that the name of the Quicktime file is c1a.mov, so then download
http://odin.prohosting.com/~doozy/cwalk/c1a.mov
to your disk. It's not protected.
