Im going to see if DAZ will build the T REX for me. If they do I agreed to allow it to be resold by DAZ. I still have to wait to get thier e mail and discuss what this will cost, But if they do it for 500.00 bucks you will see a new model I hope by October.

If this one turns out the way I hope it does Ill probably have them make a stegasuarus, a Gilimemus a new improved Raptor and a Brontosaurus.

Damn, you're sure going about your hobby in a very professional way (voice reeking with envy). I notice that you specify reference : actual object - where'd you find a Rex to send them - and how are those poor guys at DAZ going to make it sit still while they model or scan it? ;-) Cheers

You know thats what I don't like about this forum, someones always got something smartass to say.

Mesh_Magick ( ) posted Wed, 11 July 2001 at 9:38 AM

As for the form at top I filled it out thinking it was for a custom model, I also e mailed them. the form did not say brokered model at the top.

Sorry about the smartassing, MM, it's second nature to me ;-) But I am envious (in an encouraging, supportive fellow-artist way). I've got a few items I'd like modeled professionally myself, instead of having to settle for my own humble efforts. If it's not classified info I'd sure like to know how much the price turns out to be, compared to the superb pics you are going to make (which I hope to see somewhere on the net). Cheers

I asked them for a full suit of armor (high detail). total price: $5000. Good luck with $300-500.

Thank you for your interest in our custom modeling program. Since the TRex that currently sells in our store is a brokered item, we can not use it as a base for a new custom model. This would require that we make the model from scratch - which would be more costly. We also wouldn't be very interested in making a new model that would compete with one that has been selling in our store for quite some time, and we wouldn't be able to market it as an upgrade to the original. To make a new model like the one you are requesting would cost at least $2000 even if you did not want proprietary rights for the model, and could cost significantly more depending on the level of detail and the amount of morph targets involved. A good alternative would be to contact Debra Ross - who made the TRex we are curently selling. If she were interested in the project, she could probably do it for considerably less. It would then be possible for us to offer it in our store as an 'upgrade' to the original TRex, or perhaps a new product - if that were agreeable to both you and her. Let us know if you have any more questions. Thanks, Jarom Schow jarom@daz3d.com appears im still looking for for a modeler, I would not psy 2000 unless the model were being used in a film project. I could almost purchase maya for that much.

Maybe the T-rex models you have found for poser that dont bend right just need to be set up different. Not remodelled. Don't give up so easy and blow a bunch of money.

I agree you may can do this yourself, I think a lot of people don't bone there models. If you could find one that is boned probably, this may solve your problem...
