When you say film, I assume that you mean IR? I like this composition, I'm a sucker for trails, roads, etc. that lead you into the image. As far as contrast goes, it appears to be quite overcast. A good day for N+ exposure and development. (zone system refrence). Check out Ansels books. Warning tho... the books are very technical and not very exciting to read. If you can understand the system, you will be amazed at what it will do for all your photography from color, b/w, and even IR. Keep on clicking away.

Try leveling the horizon and see if you like it better.
