Subject: Problems w/ textures...

I have a small problem texturing a dog... I opened Dog Texture.tif, edited it and saved it as Dog Texture2.tif, which seems right i guess. Now the thing is this; when i choose Materials (ctrl+u) and choose this texture for "Fur" it does not appear in the box. Why is that do you think? I'd be grateful if you help me out here.

You have to load it from what ever directory you saved it to.

well yes, i have done that, but it should pop up in the box/menu to the left of the load-button, but it doesnt.

I see... thats is weird. It should of course. I assume you tried killing Poser and cranking it up again or maybe rebooting. Try resaving as different file formats;jpeg bmp etc. Sorry thats all I could think of.

The only time I get this is when I run out of memory... too large a map, too many characters, other apps or previous apps that didn't release virtual memory or swap file back where they should. I usually have to cold-boot Mr Puter. You can save your file first, though.

hey, that could really be it; the goddamn texture is 4Mb... :p Thanx alot!

Bia ( ) posted Sat, 21 July 2001 at 11:59 AM

love to see it when it's done :)

Raven, no map has to be 4 megs! I shrank my 3000x3000 to 50% and it made no difference in quality at all. Also, I convert TIFs and BMPs to jpg.

thanks, but it worked as a 4Mb tif... Looks like shit, though.. :P Mostly because my dog is more longhaired than the dog in poser, and he's all black, except some white and brown fields.

I think there is a border collie map for sale at either 3d menagerie or Lannies that can be altered? Also, I had a custom bearded Collie tex made for me, which is being sold at Cloud Castle designs. perhaps it's something you could alter. I don't know about the lisence rights etc... on either so you would need to read up on those...

I should elaborate I had the texture made for me. I sent Kathleen digital photos, very close up and she made the texture. However, I don't own it...it is hers and so, she is selling it. I never asked for any exclusive rights or anything like that so any rights would be with Kathleen.

well, no matter what they cost i can't afford it... Paying stuff from sweden is really expensive... :( And i'm not really really into Poser anyway. But i'll check it out.
