Subject: 15 minute (or more) challenge: Cheese in a can - Yummy!

Terri proposed this challenge, so I'm blaming her. Done in RDS, Corel Draw, and Corel Photo Paint. The basic model is just a circle with a can-shaped extrusion envelope (all one piece). Modeling took less than five minutes, but I spent an hour or two on the textures and background. My apologies to Litst for mangling a genuinely beautiful language. In the last challenge I did a white plastic fork, now a can of cheese and pretzels. If I do a can of Old Milwaukee I can have a white trash picnic! Jim Z. a.k.a. Julian Boolean

Really clever & quite cheesy! Like how the blured backround contrasts with the real cheese. I'd do a model also but it's off to the fridge for now!

Dang, Julian, I'm sitting here in my cubicle, giggling like an idiot. Good thing I'm the only one here right now. And, as usual, it's your attention to detail that really makes the pic -- all the captions are hysterical. I can't even pick a favorite. I couldn't quite make out what the caution was.. I got the "Keep out of reach of children", but what comes after?

Julian_Boolean ( ) posted Fri, 27 July 2001 at 6:22 PM

Thanks, Twillis. I thought you might enjoy it. The entire warning reads, "CAUTION: Keep out of reach of children. See warnings on reverse side." That's another one of the things I love about this website. It challenges us to create images that might not consider when sober. Jim Z. a.k.a. Julian Boolean

You don't know what cheese is ! litst

Julian_Boolean ( ) posted Sat, 28 July 2001 at 3:50 PM

Well done Litst! (sound of polite applause) I will make a trade with you. If you'll explain the worms, I'll explain what I meant by "cutting the cheese" ;^) Jim Z. a.k.a. Julian Boolean

Most of the times, when you see a french flag, there is a lot of viscous worms around ! ;) Now, what does "cutting the cheese" means ??? litst

Julian_Boolean ( ) posted Sat, 28 July 2001 at 7:48 PM

Let's see... it's a metaphor. Keep in mind that some cheeses have a strong odor when sliced. So here in the U.S., if there are several people in a room and someone suddenly (perhaps loudly) produces an unpleasant odor, another person in the room is likely to ask "Who cut the cheese?" The person asking the question isn't expecting an answer, it's just a childish joke. And I haven't outgrown childish jokes. Jim Z. a.k.a. Julian Boolean

"Who cut the cheese?" "Why, do you want to lick the knife?"

Threeality ( ) posted Sun, 29 July 2001 at 1:50 AM

I will ignore wyrwulf's comment...or at least try :-) That is amazingly hilarious Jim!! As said above, your attention to detail is incredible. I expect to find it on the shelf of my local Seven Eleven. And litst...your cheese is also amazingly realistic. And your worms are repulsive...or tasty looking if I was shrew or a mole. Threeality

Sacrebleu! (Jim slaps himself on the forehead). Those aren't ordinary worms, they are asticot! (maggots) Your cheese is tourn (spoiled) I have found an online French/English dictionnaire! (dictionary) Hey Litst, do you find this agant? (annoying) If you do, then I will stop. (stop) -Jim Z. a.k.a. Julian Boolean

Just hilarious! I've been gone for a couple weeks -- working on a movie -- and I come back to find this! Great work, Jim and Litst.... I missed you all while I was gone....

litst ( ) posted Wed, 15 August 2001 at 1:28 PM

I didn't find that discussion funny !!! Cheese is a serious topic, and the smell of cheese is not something we can make jokes about ! I'm raising worms with cheese ( good cheese ) and for them, cheese is all their life ! Imagine how they can be vexed when they read what people say here ! Please be a little more compressive in the future . to Chip: you're working on a movie ? Wow, that's great :) ! What kind of movie is it ? Do you use Carrara or RDS ? Like Kaom says : inquiring minds want to know ! litst
