Interesting news (not truly new). Nasa is mapping the earth, they already did 80% of it on a 11 day shuttle mission a couple years ago, collected 8 Terabytes of info. Just released Tuesday was an 8,000 square mile view of Colorado that can be downloaded. More are supposed to be released. It's a beautiful greyscale image that is actually supposed to be viewed with (red&blue) 3D glasses. Check out the middle 3 pictures. It's so looks what we do with Bryce (with terrains). Downloadable picture is 2501 x 1201 pixels big. Check it out here; http://www.jpl.nasa.gov/srtm/ Yahoo article on the process; http://dailynews.yahoo.com/h/ap/20010802/hl/digital_world.html

Thanks for the info. Really some neat stuff that Our Tax Dollars support. Glad they don't make you jump through hoops to obtain the images that we bought.
