Today, we just benchmarked Carrara against several software. The results are stunning! Carrara is : - up to 11.7 times faster than Ray Dream Studio 5.0 - up to 6 times faster than Ray Dream Studio 5.5 - up to 9 times faster than Infini-D 4.5 - up to 2 times faster than Cinema 4D XL 5.2 This results are not final. They have been obtained with a beta version of Carrara and may be different with the final version. But I think that you could be interested to know what are our current numbers. The other good news is that the Carrara renderings are of better quality too! Images and more complete numbers will be published on our web site. Last good news of the day: Carrara interactive 3D is extremely fast too! It appears to be several times faster that RDS or Cinema-4D. Even with all the effects turned on (transparent walls, shaded objects, light map, antialiased wireframes), I go up to 40 to 50 frames per second on my PC. This kind of numbers are more usually seen in games than in 3D modelers ! I can tell you that it is real fun to manipulate 3D objects with Carrara. Seeing the multiple lights shining over moving 3D surface is a real pleasure. So be a little more patient, Carrara is coming and it is a really cool product.
