Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 09 2:14 am)
Yes they are there, & yes, I can export with no problem. But, while I was checking on that, I noticed that 4 or 5 file types were duplicated on the export sub-menu. I checked the Import sub-menu, & they were duplicated there, too. Exited. Did a file->Find on ARP, & discovered duplicate files in the textures subfolder with differing file dates. Dragged them off to a backup disk, restarted poser, & IMPORT NOW WORKS! Whew, what a relief! Who'd a thunkit? Poser, who gets confused if a geometries subfolder is spelled with a lower case letter where it expects an upper case, or won't guess that N_body.jpg in textures/victoria/bodytex would be a good sub for N-body.jpg in textures/Bodytex, actually inventories everything in the poser folders on startup, & loads .ARP files wherever they are. And, of course, being Poser, gets "confused". Oh, well; maybe Poser5 won't be such an obviously schizophrenicly coded program. I can't thank you enough for the suggestion that put me on the right track. And so quickly! I had checked for the files before, when the problem first occurred, but it never occurred there might be older dupes in another folder! Thanbk you, Thank you, Thank you!

This is a weird one. My system; 750MHz Athelon 90 Gig on 2 HD, Win98SE. I recently had a problem with some original pose files corrupted or missing. Contacted Curious Labs Tech Support to find if there was any way to extract the original files off the Poser distrib disk without a re-install. Swapped a few emails until it was clear I'd have to re-install. I backed up my preferred & preferances, copied off my customized folder structure from Runtime down, uninstalled Poser (chill down my back at the thought), defragged, rebooted, re-installed Poser. Downloaded & installed the latest update from CL. carefully restored my customized folder structure. Fired up Poser. Joy & Jubilation! all working (I thought). Poses now fine, slightly greater tendancy to crash, but that might be subjective. Now 6 weeks or so later, I happened to need a prop i had deleted. Not a problem, I had the original DXF. Tried to import. No go. Converted to OBJ. still no go. Tried 15-20 other 3D props. ditto. Tried adjusting import parameters, no change. tried importing at anywhere from 10% to 500% in case it was off screen. no change. Tried it with figures present, & without. no change. import seems to work correctly, (progress line cycles & disappears) but nothing appears in workspace. the pulldowns at the bottom of the screen shows nothing but the figure & hair & ground. one time when importing a disk, I saw the ghost of the edge as a pinkish arc from one angle, but not responsive to any menus or controls. Had to close & restart Poser to remove it. BTW I did exit, restart Poser, & even reboot the computer several times during this process, but no improvement. Has anyone else experienced this? Any Suggestions? Anything? HEEEEELP! Assistance appreciated. leather-guy
