I'm in a horse texturing mood again. If anyone has any requests or suggestions for horse colors or patterns that you'd like to see, let me know. (These will be free and hire-rez). BTW, These are the hirez ones I have already available on my site:3 shades of grey, black, buckskin, bay pinto and palomino and two fantasy textures - tiger-striped and Merhorse. I've finished a white texture and liver chestnut one which will be up on my site soon.

Firstly thanks for the textures you did already. :) How about something for the Charger? Not fantasy but nevertheless colorful?

Hmmm... I've got some charger textures (White, cream, sorrel, dun and bay sabino) in the store, but I suppose I could do one or two more free ones (There is a free grey charger texture on my site). Anything in particular you are looking for?

Here's one that might be fun, a carosel horse.

Things I'd like to see: Leopard Appaloosa -- "Dalmatian" Black & white -tobiano or overo A white that you can use as creamy or bluish white. Here's a wild idea-literally-Przewalski's Horse. Here's a link: http://library.advanced.org/25014/profiles/horse. Not good photos, but.. GrayMare

I've got a white texture that can be used as creamy or bluish white just by varying the object color slightly, (see http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=77618) I'll post it up on my site in the next day or two. I did a leopard app for my Painted pony collection. Black and white pinto would be easy enough to do and a Prewalski-horse type dun shouldn't be too hard either. There is already a lovely free Carousel horse texture available (in the free stuff I think) but I may give it a try to if I have time.

Doh. Bam Bam Bam. Banging ones head on the table really hurts. I got the gray already, but I wasn't aware of the ones in the Store. Looks like six for the price of one. :) But how about a texture with a light body (maybe cream) and very dark mane, tail and feathers? Or a 'cow' texture (see link). ;)

igohigh ( ) posted Mon, 20 August 2001 at 1:49 PM

I like reptiles; how about a nice Snake Skin Horse for the fantasy folk? Also some variations on Pintos would be nice for the 'herd scenes' (I've seen Pinto heards and few look alike)

Daio ( ) posted Mon, 20 August 2001 at 1:59 PM

Light body - dark points could be either a bay going grey or a dun/dilute buckskin. I'll add that to my list. The "cow" texture is a black pinto - already put that on the list for the Charger it would turn it into a 'Gypsy Vanner'. The merhorse texture has scales but they are more fishy than reptilian. But since I have 2 snakes, I can certainly seen if I can't take some pix of them for reference for a equine snakeskin texture. I've got a whole bunch of different Pintos in my Painted Pony package here in the store. Not meant to be a plug, just an explaination as to why I probaly won't be doing similiar ones and putting them in the free stuff. :-)

I want to do a "Shadowfax" from Lord of the Rings for my son. Let me get the poser horse guru's opinion. Should I use a white tex with silver(ish) highlights or go for a gray with light highlights? GrayMare (name not related to above conversation)

Try using one of my hirez grey textures with the texture strength turned own to 70 or so % and then use the silver reflection map at 30% or so (you may have to play with the numbers some to get what you want and don't forget that lighting can play a big part). I've been able to get some very quicksilver/metallic looking horses that way

I like the carousel horse, idea, myself. Have been working on my own model of that, here...but, hey now...if you can do it for me, that would be sweet.

Daio--Thanks for asking our opinions. It sounds like we're saying "I want! I want!", but it is very important that you think enough of the consumer/customer/community to ask. GrayMare
