Hi all, I have been trying to import a victoria figure from poser into bryce but I keep getting a message when it's importing that says "file error has occured i/o bad media" what does this mean exactly.? I have exported as wavefront obj from poser, then attempt to import that file into my scene. Thanks for any help...

If this error message is coming from Windows it means exactly what it says, the media you are trying to read the file from has bad blocks. If this is your hard drive it could be real bad, you should delete all temp files from your hard drive and run a thorough scandisk and then a defrag. Good Luck

just load the obj in uvmapper or like prog and resave without changing anything and it will load fine. Bryan

Bryan is right, its due to a faulty export plugin, if you run the obj through UVMapper and resave it, it will load correctly-but...... You will have to manually reapply the textures in Bryce.

yes, Thanks...the one big draw back of Bryce! I hope one day they change that so that we can import the textures and all that we have done in Poser for rendering in Bryce. I will try the UV mapper tip Thanks!

usually they do--however when you get that error message and resave obj it doesn't save a mtl file with the new save. there is a work around though: first resave using uvmapper then use grouper 1.1 and convert obj to new obj and then your textures will be intact. Bryan

are you saying that if I didn't have this error, that The textures would import automatically? I have yet to have this happen. But, I haven't used it alot. So far I always seem to have a veriation of textures, but not exactly what i did in Poser. The colors are somewhat off etc...

yes, normally the textures are applied correctly, only transmaps must be applied manually. And the colors somewhere of, thats a problem of the ambience settings in the matlab.try different abiencesettings there or go to brycetech.com , they have a good tut about importing vicky to bryce and how to seup the textures.
