I am fairly unknowledgeable with this but from what I read and most of the time it works for me is you go into material options load what ever texture ( that is a jpg converted to TIFF) in where it says texture map make sure it is 100% render. One more thing the pull down menu for the different parts is important you can apply the tex. to each indivdual part. I think preview applies to the whole figure.

To apply a texture just go to Render then choose materials It will pop up a screen You will see Texture Map, choose that option and find your texture file. Usually Poser4:Runtime:Textures. Then apply it to the figure. Make sure the very top first dropdown has the figure listed instead of clothes or whatever. In four the texture can be jpg tiff or bmp.

In addition to what Stormrage has said, if you want the texture change to apply to the whole figure, there is a check box for that on the Render:Materials screen.
