Your opinion of my work so far? Very new at this, been struggling with cloths (my biggest problem)lips and eyes. In this picture my main focus was on lips and eyes. I painted the eyes myself in photoshop. I have a question. I could not get rid of the black ring around the iris no matter what I do. I resized the irises I made and tried that, no effect. The black ring seems to fit, but still I would like to be able to remove it at will. The lips were a little hard, getting them painted so that they would fit the figure exactly is something several artists appear to overlook from what I could see in the textures I have downloaded. The makeup she is wearing is airbrushed by me, but her actual skin was taken from a high res photo. With the use of the stamp feature in photoshop I was able to spread it around. The hair is Kosoburo. (spelling?) Excelent work, amazing hair, love using his hair. The face is as close as I could get to my wife it is Victoria 2 btw. Opinions? Mike

Now that you have the position of the lips correct, maybe it's time to soften the edges in Photoshop? The black circle in the eye: is that something with the texture? After all, the eyeball texture is just one piece, isn't it?

Yes the eyeball is on a texture by itself. I tried to widen the iris and the black circle still shows up, very strange...

I've seen other threads in the past. I think this is some type of artifact. http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?Form.ShowMessage=324414 If you look close there is also another one over in the white of the eye. Don't know if you know about this cool feature Rosity's forums you can click on search and it will let you do a key word search. I tried ring and iris. Marque was having the same problem as you. Hope this helps :)

Also check this thread. It shows some really nice closeups of what you can do with a P4 eye.

Thanks, this is not a P4 eye, it is V2. I will check the threads listed. Thanks folks! Mike

OK, I was able to remove the ring totally around the iris. It was caused by the bumpmap. So I disabled the bump for the eyeball only and this cured the problem. What little of the black ring you see is due to me deciding that ZERO black ring just plain didnt look right. I re-worked the lips. Also by lightening the highlight shade and upping the highlight percentage on the lips gave it a more "lipstick on your collar" look. Thanks for the tips.
