Subject: DAZ Combat Pak

Staby ( ) posted Sat, 29 September 2001 at 11:58 AM · edited Fri, 06 December 2024 at 7:10 AM

Right now that my credit card is in agony after yesterday shopping frenzy DAZ releases what I have been waiting for months: a Combat Pak for Mike and Vicky! BTW there is an interesting morph for Michael's version, one to turn his pecs (on the shirt)more flat. It looks DAZ listened to all of us that requested it. And maybe this means that Mike 2.0 is almost ready and he has a corresponding morph too? Argh! I hope my credit card will recover...

Tell me about it, but I failed to get the combat pack I got majik and the adventuerers

Im looking forward to buy it next week too! The description and pictures are intriguing those boots are terrific!

I purchased the pack last night. I don't see the pec morph your talking about although there is an untuck shirt morph that the mike clothing has been needing. All the items are great although I was a little disappointed in how the hats are created there are 2 versions 1 for vicki and 1 for mike, but there are 4 hats that can be created from each the problem is that in order to create any of the variations you have to play with transparancies that hide a brim or a visor. I would rather have 4 seperate props that imported proberly, Transparencies take up memory and rendering time. I also have run into a problem with the vicki clothing items, that really bugs me because it's why I bought the set. The Tank Top and Army pants aren't conforming correctly. The stick to the figure okay but they are sitting about 1/2 a heads height to high, almost like they are importing at Mike's height instead of Vicki's. I tried a cr.2 edit using an existing shirt cr.2 and having it reference the Tank Top obj file but it didn't cahnge anything. I contacted Daz and I'm sure it will be a simple fix but it's the weekend so it'll be a few days before I hear from them. If anyone has any ideas about how to fix the problem throw them at me. Also let me say that all the other items are working perfectly and once I get the problem fixed I'll be very happy with my purchase. It's a nice addition to Mike and Vicki's wardrobe.

I forgot to mention I'm running Poser Pro Pack ver.3 on a G4 500 mgz mac with 500 megs assigned to Poser.

I have the same conforming problem as otaku has. The shirt and pants conform too high. I'm working with Propak sp3 on a PC.

Same problem here, too--Poser 4.0.3 on a Mac. I'd say that makes it pretty much universal.

Sounds like daz isn't checking broked files very well. Makes me wonder what the approval process is. I understand problems can be hidden in files but this is obvious and it sounds like it's more than a pro pak or mac glitch.

I ment brokered files. Fruedian slip I guess.

Staby ( ) posted Sat, 29 September 2001 at 3:12 PM

Ops! I looked at the promotional pictures and I though they developed some pecs morph, because it seem flat to me... maybe it is only that it is a morph I'm waiting for in Mike 2.0. I hope they fix that conforming problem soon. i will wait some days before purchasing... Thank you for your information.

gladiator ( ) posted Sat, 29 September 2001 at 3:14 PM

Otaku, the irony is that it is not a brokered file.

The Mike clothes and boots are fine but the Vickie set doesn't conform properly. You're right, looks like they were set up for Mike's height. Marque

I have send a similar pic to DAZ. BTW the boots do conform right, at least in my case. Hope they fix it soon

"You want me to touch my nose while I'm standing like this?...Honest, I didn't have anything to drink, that was the mermaid you saw!!!" heh, couldn't resist. Yup the boots do conform, I just left them that way to show where they come in. Marque

If something comes in too high, simply select the item (prop or figure) and go to the dials. There is one for Y-trans. TRANSlate it on the vertical (Y) axis. Try maybe -0.25 or -0.5 and adjust from there. Smart props will sometimes be slightly off, too, and I just translate them into the correct position along whatever axis is necessary. Carolly

Already tried that, you can't move a whole conformed figure. Although I was able to select the hip and move that down, but the shoulder are still attached at a higher point and end up folding in and the abs and chest warp out. After 5-8 minutes of toying with it I was able to get to fit correctly but I don't want to have to do that every time I use the clothing.I'm sure Daz will have a fix for it soon enough, customer service is one of their strongest assets.I'm just surprised that it was released with such an obvious flaw. Maybe it was rushed to meet the friday release.
