thanks to everyone for the many useful comments. here is how it looks so far. give it a last scouring and then i'll post it to tutorials.

Looks very nice and I am very happy that you found a great way of clearing that subfolders thingy up without losing the format. The layout as a whole is much better and the additional info is clear as well.
