I'm torn... I'd LIKE to sell this texture set (it's not completely done yet, I still would like to do more eye colors, and a few more make up combinations), but I don't know if anyone would buy it... or if I even SHOULD sell it... I don't know if the quality is there... so I really would like oppinions... the picture attached shows the full body texture, and 8 of the make up (well 7 and one with no make up) combinations I have so far. I've made a face file setting with the V2 morphs, that I'll include as an .fc2 file, but that will only be usable for people who own V2. It also includes a new lash and upper eyebrow transmap that I made... if this were for sale @ $15.00 would you buy it? What about at 10.00, or would you just not buy it at all? The files are at 72 dpi, about 1000x1000 pixels. Any oppinions on other things that should be included are greatly appreciated... I do plan on making a second body texture with no pubic hair, and less shading/highlighting in the chest area that could be used on the Millinium Girls...

Thanks,

K-

I'm going to reserve my judgement at the moment on whether I would buy it. My honest opinion is that you need to create a bump map for the skin textures and bring more detail into the lips. Right now she just looks too flat. I understand that you are still working on it.

maybe a close up shot in the face textures thread?

K- It's certainly looking very promising; Once it's finished I'd certainly be interested in it for, say 12.50 or so (split the differance:-) Make alternate MAT files just for the lips, so folks can mix-&-Match. (I love the extreme crimson eye makeup, the way you encircle the eyes makes me think with a yellow eye red pupil mat the eyes would positively glow:-)) Besides the BMP map, I'd suggest considering emphasizing What I think of as the "light planes" of the face; the areas that catch light like the forehead, the ridge of the nose, lower lip, areas of the cheeks, & the chin. Also a variation of the body textures with tan lines is always attractive. Add a mole or two, & the realism increases. Just my 2 cents worth :-))

send a beta test kit to soulhuntre since she has so many she can judge for you... if you plan on selling much you should build up a good objective set of beta testers anyway. i think what may be missing is a character morph or even just a face pose to make a new character look... jmo, i don't really know since i don't buy and i don't sell. good job on her btw.

I would say as a suggestion, release one for free and see how it goes, and yes a good bump map be a good thing to have. they all look very cool! although the un-made up ones look more useful. the made up one look stellar but are harder to use for one character.

I already made up a bump map, and just didn't have it applied to the first set of renders above... but I figured I'd make a more close up image with the bump map applied... I'm trying to stay away from creating too much highlight/shadow on the texture itself... I've noticed that if they're too strong on the texture map itself, then it looks unnatural with different lighting inside poser... I've changed the lighting for this pictures, so that you can see how the skin will pick up the light a little bit..

I think I will end up making this a freebie... I've found a bunch of stuff wrong with it once I started looking at stuff... sigh But at least this has been a good learning experience! LOL

So anyway... once I get a few more minor tweaks I'm going to make the MAT files, and then probably on Monday or Tuesday I'm going to get this along with a few other things (the Natalia textures I made before) all ready and put up on my website (which I just registered, and haven't built anything on yet)

Thanks everyone for your input though... :)

It's looking good. Add a little more detail around the eyes and remember that the pores are larger across the nose than on the rest of the face. Once again this should be done through the use of bump maps. But like I said, she is looking good.

I think it's always a good idea to put your first couple of projects in freestuff and see how the download numbers rack up, and let people get familiar with your work. That way you get your name out there, you see people using your stuff in the galleries and you can ask them for feedback. I'm always more comfortable buying from someone who's work I'm familiar with.

72 dpi? that seems very low...

Cin- ( ) posted Sun, 28 October 2001 at 9:13 AM

72 dpi is all that most monitors will show... it's standard resolution for a non-print quality .jpg file...

she's lovely, I like all the makeup options, the very dramatic and the barely there...I would purchase the package when it is finished. I especially like the large picture, the eyebrows are gorgeous.
