Subject: Quick question about texture maps

I have an object that has a fairly low resolution texture map. Can I just resize the template in psp and create the texture without using uvmapper? Or is it something that has to be done with uvmapper and remapping the obj?

you wouldn't need uvmapper to remap the obj if the low res texture currently fits the obj already. yes you can resize the texture up, but that doesn't really increase the detail... you won't get more detail just by resizing. just look for a hi-res texture around, or add detail in psp after resizing up? which texture is it, maybe someone can tell you a hi-res version someone else has.

I'm going to be making the texture myself, I just need to make it more detailed and show more detail when rendered. Say I have a cube and the template is 300x300 but I want to put more detail and I'd like the map to be 600x600. Can I do that by just resizing the template and making the texture 600x600 without touching uvmapper? And will that 600x600 texture work on that cube?

yep, i think you're safe "resizing" so long as you don't "move" things - moving is when you would need uvmapper. :)

Thanks! :) I know I could have tested this but I didn't want to go through all the trouble if it wasn't going to work. LOL

Resizing it up may make it look really pixelated. Just warning you ;). Laurie
