Has anybody got an idea how to convert an existing (complex) mesh into a set of NURBS, like breadslices ? This could help to re-do things in Rhino ...

Yes we do. Come to the Rhino fourm and ask there The tool to use in Rhino id the "Contour". it can use a mesh as a input.
