Actually, you could do all of those things in Bryce 4. But Bryce 5's lab is much cooler, more game-like and more fun. That's what puts Bryce a step ahead for me, we just call it Bryce Tournament around the workplace. I'm not sure about the tracking for the lighting in Bryce 4, I mean I don't think you can track an object's hot point or anything. But one can always make a tiny dummy sphere, set to hidden, and place said sphere where needed. If one were so inclined.
I could do all of those things in Bryce 4? Well, I have to admit my ignorance, because I didn't think you could do anmy of those things. Certainly, I haven't seen anything in the manual. Either I am missing something or I am not making myself clear as to my question. You're idea, Darelf, about the small hiiden sphere is a work around. I must admit I didnt think of that. But as far as being able to adjust the cone of light(from a spotlight) so that only a certain area is illuminated on the target--well I just never saw anything about that. Sure you can resize the spot, but how do you get it to illuminate only a certain area on the target?(this is easily accomplished in Max). This is especially difficult when the targe is far from the spot. One other thing, does anyone know how to get the range falloff feature to work? Kithcens, in her book, saw that alt+drag in the light preview window will bring up a numerical readout for falloff. Well it just don't work for me. Anyone else? Mind you, I am not complaining, I am just trying to educate myself. And thanks to all of you smart people I bet I will. Thanks

Can anyone tell me if the lighting controls for v5 are a great improvment over v4? For instance, can you link a light to a particular spot on an object rather than just the whole object? Or can you drag the light beam so that it points to a particular spot as you can in amorphium or 3d studio Max? Does it show the light cone when using a spotlight, if so can the width of the cone be adjusted?
