One of my favorite movies..I think I've seen it about 5 times now.. :) and I dont own it yet...DOH! Thats a good question, ghostboat. Maybe there is a Matrix FAQ on the net somewhere that talks about some of the effects. I do know there is a "The Making of the Matrix" on cable TV. I havent seen it yet but they explained how the FX were done in a lot of scenes. Also - If you own the DVD..I hear rumor that you can cut away from the movie when a cool special FX scene is coming up and go to another section on the DVD that shows how they do the FX then you go right back into the movie and watch that scene...I hear there is a White Rabbit that appears in the lower corner of the screen when there is a clip for this available.. I'm not sure if that scene has the rabbit available.. Clint

One of the coolest movies of the 90's (IMHO). My suspicion is that there is some (VERY) high-end software involved here - probably Maya. The special edition video has 3 "making of..." at the end. One about the special camera effects, one about the way they did the fight scenes and one about the coolest scene in the movie - the gunfight in the government lobby Paul
Most F/X companies in the Movie Industry today use Proprietory Software. Stuff that has been created specially for them. The kind of effects from the Matrix are top notch. I'm sure the software used was Proprietary. There are some companies that use modified versions of Maya, Softimage 3D and even Lightwave 3D. I'm studying Comp. Animation here in Miami and I'm learning the use of Maya 2. It is vere complicated and dificult to learn but I never worked with a more fantastic 3D program before, you can even open Photoshop from within the Maya interface to adjust and create your textures. Something of this level was probably used in the Matrix.
My bad,it wasn't a scene around the character. It was when they gave Neo the Pill and went into the next room ,the shot on the computer screen, where they monitor everything.Thats the part I was meaning looked like it was done using Poser.Sorry bout that I should of described what I was talking about better, just call me DUHHHHH!:-> -ghostboat-
