1. divide the obj into the sections you wish to be poseable saving each body part as a seperate file in case things go pear shaped (saves time if you have to rebuild :) ) 2. Re-assemble the parts in your modeler, making sure you have deleted any adjoining faces (otherwise you get ugly seams) 3 NAME THE PARTS, then group them and save the file. You should now have an obj file with the body parts listed (if your modeler doesn't support this kind of grouping, get copies of Truspace and 3D Exploration, assemble and name the parts in Truespace, save the file as a scene file, then use 3D Exploration to convert to .obj format, but remember to transform by x= -90, y= 180, and scale by about 0.2. place the .obj file in one of the poserruntimegeometries directories or the next bit, using Roy Riggs PHI Builder won't work ) 4 Open Roy Riggs PHI BUILDER utility, click on OBJ button You will then see your obj file with its component parts listed. What you then have to do is re-arrange the order those parts are listed in, assign the correct levels to them and assign the relevant xyz orientation (this will make more sense when you actually get to that part). When happy, save the file in the same directory as the obj file (not strictly important, but it's easier to find that way) 5 Open Poser. OPEN A CHARACTER LIBRARY. Then import your obj. Next under the file menu you will find a heading 'convert heirarchy file'. Do this and go looking for your new PHI file. Give your new character/animal/monster a name, and hey presto, a new entry appears in your character library. Nearly done now! 6. The entry does not yet have its own image, just the shrugging man. Now delete the imported obj and open the new character. Give it a minute to build and voila! One poseable figure. If you're very lucky, you won't have to edit the joint parameters, if not well I'll let someone else explain all about them! Good luck! Hey does any one have a easy way to make a passable figure out of a obj file. I have looked in the tutorial area, but the one tutorial from "ScottA" is not reachable. And the other one I found there, I have tried but when I pull the obj file in to the UV Mapper I dont get the option to select by group. So if there is another way or some one could clue me in I would very grateful. Thanks
